This initiative is for the Optum VPN environment. There are hundreds of existing VPN connections that are required to have a business owner, but don't. This initiative is to disable connections, update the database with new contact information, and re-enable connections.
The ideal candidate will be a route/switch network engineer with Cisco IPSEC VPN experience using Cisco CLI. We need network engineers familiar with building IPSEC site-to-site VPN tunnels, via command line, and able to read and understand route tables. The candidate will also need to be able to troubleshoot complex routing situations. Along with these technical skills, this position also requires outstanding communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The candidate will be dealing with multiple external 3rd party companies, negotiating VPN variables, coordinating, and scheduling the changes, and troubleshooting connectivity issues after deployment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Configuration and troubleshooting of IPSEC site-to-site VPNs
- Author technical documentation such as network diagrams
- Monitor network performance and implement performance tuning when necessary
- Diagnose connectivity problems and resolve network issues
- Work closely with clients and vendors on implementation of products and services
- Ensure security and operational standards and procedures are maintained in accordance with compliance requirements, HIPAA standards, and industry best practices
- Works with minimal guidance; seeks guidance only on the most complex tasks
- Communicate effectively with leadership, peers, project managers, clients, and stakeholders
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regard to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so
Required Qualifications:
- CCNP or higher certification, or experience that aligns with certification
- Experience installing and maintaining Cisco routers and switches
- Experience in Arista switch management
- Experience in Palo Alto firewalls
- Documentation skills and use of programs such as Visio
- Skilled in a scripting language such as Python
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects
- AI Skills:
- Consistent Use: Maintain a minimum of 90% weekly usage of AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and other GenAI platforms approved by the enterprise
- Applied Productivity: Leverage AI tools to enhance coding, documentation, data analysis, and decision-making workflows
- Continuous Learning: Stay current with evolving AI capabilities and features, and apply them to improve delivery quality and velocity

Skills Required
