Role Overview
The Senior Network Engineer role reports to the VP of Network Operations and is a multifaceted position within the BIMs infrastructure team. The candidate will manage an up-and-coming team of engineers, ensuring operational stability of the entire BIMs network and act as the lead network architect for the BIMs business silo.
The Environment
The BIMs network Engineering team supports a global high availability network with 4 sites located globally. The network Infrastructure is built on Cisco, Checkpoint and NetScaler with approximately 100 devices globally. The network supports a web facing Citrix environment as well as various market data sources and FIX order routing traffic.
Responsibilities
Work with clients to establish connectivity to the BIMs platform.
Ensure proper implementation of all network changes in coordination with other teams.
Troubleshoot internal and external network related issues.
Deliver the global infrastructure refresh project.
Maintain accurate inventory of devices, circuits and software in our CMDB.
Create and maintain detailed documentation of the BIMS network.
Develop and document operations support workflows and processes.
Develop tools and processes to automate deployments and ensure zero system down-time.
Create training programs for new engineers.
Architect new solutions as requirements arise.
Ensure routine maintenance is completed and documented (Firmware updates, code updates).
Work closely with Network teams in other business silos to ensure 24x7 coverage and create cost efficiencies.
Your Profile
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent
8+ years’ experience in a similar role
Experience supporting networks within Financial or Fintech organizations.
Direct management experience with a global team.
CCIE certification
Proven hands-on experience in Cisco switching, Cisco and Checkpoint firewalls, NetScaler load balancer.
Experience with networks supporting VMware and Citrix.
In-depth experience with multiple network protocols: BGP, OSPF, IPSEC, GRE, ETC
Experience troubleshooting Market data traffic (Unicast/Multicast) as well as FIX based messaging.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work independently.
Proven record of architecting and implementing robust network infrastructure.
