Our Team:

The Monitoring Service delivers monitoring and supervision capabilities for all Sanofi infrastructure, application and network assets on a global level across all hosting locations. In scope are 21000+ servers, 2000 RDBMS, 7000 network devices and 1500 applications hosted in 3 main regional data centers, 70 distributed local sites and AZURE/AWS/Google cloud. Primary mission is to proactively detect outages on Sanofi applications to limit impact on end user experience and accelerate resolution and recovery. The internal team is staffed with service managers and product owners to ensure delivery and solution experts designing and building the necessary capabilities required for the reliable run. The operational level is covered by a managed service partner working in close collaboration with the internal Sanofi team.

Main responsibilities:

• In an Operational and Tactical role:

The Monitoring Solution Expert is responsible for the design, implementation and deployment of application and infrastructure performance monitoring according to the application SLA.

For clients the Monitoring Solution Expert is in charge of analysing the target application and infrastructure architecture, design and implement the appropriate monitoring. Interaction happens with both the system owners and operational teams to measure, control and publish performance.

The Monitoring Solution Expert is the point of contact for monitoring demands of project teams during design phase and operational teams during run phase

o Analyse system architecture to determine appropriate system metrics

o Collect functional requirements and translate into technical monitoring configurations leveraging existing tool and capabilities

o Design the monitoring reports and publishing capability according to the SLA.

o Actively participate in remediations and troubleshooting scenarios to secure monitoring platform availability and performance.

o Foster monitoring tool adoption by educating and consulting end users to leverage full value of existing monitoring solutions

o Lead user groups to promote monitoring service capabilities and features to end user community

• In a Strategic Role

o Design and implementation of the toolsets necessary to cover monitoring needs.

o Contribute to Monitoring strategy definition with Service and Product Owners

o Design & develop new monitoring capabilities in closed collaboration with customers

o Continuously analyse monitoring tool market enabling strategic decision making on in Sanofi monitoring roadmap

About you

Team management

 Network coordination

 Functional management of small to medium internal team

 Management of external consultants/vendors (Tool expertise and Scripting development)

Technical knowledge

 Broad knowledge and experience around application development and deployment lifecycle

 Windows, Linux and Unix operating system

 Medium skills on RDBMS (Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL) and SQL language

 Strong knowledge of application performance monitoring in on-prem, hybrid and cloud based environments

 Strong understanding on Telemetry Data concept (Metrics/Logs/Traces), data models and standards (CIM, OpenTelemetry etc.)

 Advanced skills in SPLUNK Cloud (SaaS)

 SPLUNK component architecture

 SPLUNK input knowledge on various technologies and formats (file, RDBMS, EMS, snmp, API etc.)

 SPLUNK SPL search language

• search tuning and optimization

• aggregate data from various data sources

• implement business transaction monitoring based on ingested logs from multiple sources correlated by correlation appropriate criteria

 Manage and operate SPLUNK in a large enterprise context with high level of automation

 SPLUNK dashboarding and reporting (Classic and Dashboarding Studio)

 End-2-End Transaction Flow monitoring:

• Ability to identify all components involved in a transaction and document the expected flow and dependencies

• Determine key checkpoints in the transaction lifecycle, Identify potential bottlenecks and single points of failure

• Link logs and events across different systems and create a unified view of the entire transaction journey

 Advanced skills on DataDog

• Platform management

• DataDog integrations (Log, Synthetic, RDBMS, Cloud, Middleware, Java, .Net etc.)

• Agent configuration and management

• Object tagging, Dashboarding and Reporting

 Good overview on the overall monitoring solution market and future evolution streams

 Strong knowledge of IT architectures in hybrid environments and their associated capacities/constraints

 Good knowledge in shared application hosting platforms and their associated capacities/constraints

 Good knowledge of the cloud hosting services

 Communication

• Possess strong oral and written communications skills in order to interact efficiently with the different project actors: Business analysts, Application Architects, Application Owners, System Engineers...

• English (fluent spoken and written)

• Demonstrates the experience and ability to work independently and/or supervise a team of consultants.

• Proven networking and communication skills

 Project Management

• Manage small to medium evolution and deployment projects leading a project team (5 people max)

 ITSM/ITIL

• Good understanding of incident, change, problem and request management concept in large enterprise IT environments

• Good understanding of CMDB and asset management

 Organization/planning

• Manage their priorities according to projects urgencies and enterprise strategy

• Autonomous way of working

• Coordination of multiple project actors: Business Analysts, system engineers, Application Architects

• Reactivity & Sense of urgency

 Work experience

• 5 years of experience in different IT disciplines

• 2 years of experience in Application Monitoring
