Are you passionate about industrial automation and digital manufacturing and excited to be part of a global company transforming the industry with cutting-edge technology? ABB is looking for a Senior MES Engineer – Pulp & Paper to join our Process Industries (PAPI) / IDS team in Brazil.

Responsibilities
Act as a technical authority in MES engineering solutions for the pulp and paper sector, ensuring project execution is aligned with contracts, quality standards, safety protocols, and cybersecurity policies.
Collaborate with customers to understand their needs and propose tailored MES solutions, incorporating continuous feedback throughout the project lifecycle.
Lead technical discussions with clients and stakeholders, supporting proposal development, scope definition, and technical estimations.
Develop work plans, cost estimates, and ensure on-time, on-budget project implementation.
Coordinate with internal departments to ensure that systems are correctly manufactured, tested, installed, and commissioned.
Support and mentor junior engineers in technical development, promoting best practices, reviewing deliverables, and sharing lessons learned.
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of experience in the Pulp & Paper process manufacturing industry.
At least 3 years working directly with MES platforms (e.g., ABB MES, Honeywell Optivision, Majiq Elixor, Tieto MES, or equivalent).
Proven participation in full MES lifecycle implementations (design, development, commissioning, stabilization, and support).
Solid knowledge of ISA-95 / ISA-88 standards and manufacturing data models.
Experience integrating MES with DCS/PLC systems, Historians, and ERP systems.
Strong database knowledge (SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL).
Ability to design system architecture and integration strategies.
Experience working in large industrial projects with multidisciplinary teams.
Nice to Have / Differentiators
Experience with integration protocols: OPC UA / OPC DA / REST APIs / MQTT.
Experience developing reports and dashboards using Crystal Reports, SSRS, and/or Power BI.
Knowledge of Linux administration, BSH/C programming, and GNU compiler/debugger.
Experience with SAP Business Objects reporting.
Experience with analytics platforms (Python, ABB Genix, or similar).
Familiarity with cybersecurity practices in OT environments.
Knowledge of Advanced Process Control (APC) integration with MES.
Experience in mining or other process industries beyond Pulp & Paper.
