Passionate about precision medicine and advancing the healthcare industry?
Recent advancements in underlying technology have finally made it possible for AI to impact clinical care in a meaningful way. Tempus' proprietary platform connects an entire ecosystem of real-world evidence to deliver real-time, actionable insights to physicians, providing critical information about the right treatments for the right patients, at the right time.
Tempus is seeking a (Senior) Medical Director in Oncology to serve as the primary clinical partner for our Life Sciences account teams. This role bridges the gap between clinical oncology practice, real-world data, and biopharma drug development. You will partner with key accounts to provide strategic, proactive clinical guidance. You will translate complex oncologic concepts, patient care realities, and clinical trial challenges into actionable data and AI-driven solutions. The ideal candidate brings dedicated clinical experience in Gastrointestinal (GI) or Breast malignancies, combined with a strong understanding of how real-world evidence accelerates oncology pipelines.
Responsibilities
Build and execute holistic, long-term clinical strategies for assigned accounts, leveraging Tempus capabilities including multimodal real-world data (RWD) datasets, agentic AI tools, and clinical trial acceleration solutions.
Serve as the primary clinical peer to biopharma Clinical Directors, Medical Affairs leaders, and Translational Medicine executives, maintaining a proactive, structured cadence of engagement.
Develop indication-specific "battle decks" that map real-world standards of care, biomarker testing patterns, and unmet clinical needs directly against client pipeline assets.
Analyze client pipelines, clinical trial readouts, and investor relations materials to proactively anticipate client needs and formulate strategic account growth plans.
Synthesize medical conference updates (e.g., ASCO, ESMO, SABCS) into actionable client insights, advising biopharma partners on trial protocol design, cohort selection, and synthetic control arms.
Partner with internal teams on high-value client calls to communicate complex scientific and clinical solutions with authoritative credibility.
Act as an internal subject matter expert across Tempus products and services to ensure scientific accuracy, enhance product usability, and align service capabilities with evolving market needs.

Education & Clinical Practice: MD or DO required, with board certification/eligibility in Medical Oncology
Subspecialty Expertise: Strong clinical focus in Gastrointestinal (GI) or Breast cancers is highly preferred.
Biopharma & RWD Fluency: Proven ability to analyze biopharma drug pipelines, understand clinical trial design/regulatory pathways, and apply complex real-world datasets (NGS, clinical data)
