Who we are
With its A.I.-powered robotic technology platform, Symbotic is changing the way consumer goods move through the supply chain. Intelligent software orchestrates advanced robots in a high-density, end-to-end system – reinventing warehouse automation for increased efficiency, speed and flexibility.
What we need
We are looking for a skilled Senior Mechatronics Engineer to take ownership across the full hardware lifecycle of our healthcare robotics products. In this role, you will design, build, and refine electromechanical systems, support manufacturing and field operations, and ensure our robots perform reliably in real-world clinical environments. We need someone who is hands-on, versatile across mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering, and energized by working on a lean team where you will shape solutions from concept through deployment.
What we do
The OhmniLabs team leads all hardware operations for Symbotic’s healthcare robotics products. We own the full physical lifecycle of our robots, including mechanical and electrical design, PCB development, prototyping, testing, product safety, regulatory compliance, and manufacturing transition. We work closely with software, product, and field teams to ensure seamless integration and reliable performance in hospitals and care environments. We also support production, deployments, and fleet readiness to keep systems running at their best. As a lean, highly collaborative team, we take a hands-on approach and contribute across a broad range of hardware engineering disciplines.
What you’ll do
Lead the design, engineering, and build-out of mechatronic systems and subsystem components for our products.
Own solutions from requirements through design, testing, QMS documentation, and production rollout, ensuring technical quality and system reliability.
Develop project timelines and coordinate across internal teams and external partners to drive on-time, high-quality deliverables.
Maintain broad capability across stations and provide hands-on support where needed.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, cost, and efficiency using lean manufacturing principles.
Manage part sourcing, supplier communication, and risk mitigation to ensure timely availability and early identification of potential issues.
Define and maintain training processes for station operations and ensure compliance with procedures related to owned parts and systems.
Develop and maintain MES applications, workflows, and audits in alignment with internal and regulatory requirements.
Continue strengthening technical and professional skills through training, cross-functional collaboration, and ongoing development opportunities.
What we need
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Production/Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience applying lean manufacturing principles, including kanban, visual factory methods, poka-yoke, 5S, waste reduction, and kaizen practices.
Experience managing vendor relationships and working with design regulations and standards.
Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, software, manufacturing, and quality systems and how they interact in a mechatronic environment.
Proficiency with CAD tools such as Fusion 360 and Eagle.
Broad knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing techniques.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and operational teams.
Proactive, hands-on mindset with a desire to learn, take ownership, and help build exceptional products.
Our environment
Up to 20% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed bi-weekly.
