About Grafton Sciences
We’re building AI systems with general physical ability — the capacity to experiment, engineer, or manufacture anything. We believe achieving this is a key step towards building superintelligence. With deep technical roots and real-world progress at scale (e.g., a $42M NIH project), we’re pushing the frontier of physical AI. Joining us means inventing from first principles, owning real systems end-to-end, and helping build a capability the world has never had before.
About the Role
We’re seeking a Senior Mechatronics Engineer to design and integrate electromechanical systems that sit at the heart of advanced robotics, automation, and experimental hardware. You’ll work across mechanical design, actuators, sensors, motion systems, embedded integration, and tooling bring-up. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys full-stack hardware problem-solving and thrives on owning mechanisms, electronics, and system behaviors from concept to reliable operation.
Responsibilities
• Design and integrate electromechanical assemblies, actuators, sensors, motion systems, and robotic tooling.
• Prototype, test, and refine mechanisms, motion stacks, and custom hardware for automated operation.
• Collaborate across electrical, firmware, robotics, and mechanical teams to bring up systems end-to-end.
• Support debugging, calibration, and iteration of precision assemblies and hardware–software interfaces.
Qualifications
• Strong experience designing and integrating electromechanical systems — sensors, actuators, motion components, fixtures, and tooling.
• Demonstrated ability to prototype, test, and iterate mechanisms and hardware in fast-moving environments.
• Comfortable working across mechanical, electrical, and firmware boundaries to debug and improve system performance.
• Hands-on, systems-oriented engineer who enjoys building real hardware and making it work reliably.
Above all, we look for candidates who can demonstrate world-class excellence.
Compensation
We offer competitive salary, meaningful equity, and benefits.

What We Do
Grafton Sciences (formerly, Grafton Biosciences) is pioneering physical general intelligence, autonomous systems that merge artificial intelligence, robotics, and reasoning to accelerate scientific discovery.
By designing platforms for autonomous discovery, we aim to solve the grandest challenges across science. As part of our ongoing initiatives in disease, we have received a $42.5 million contract from ARPA-H to solve early detection of cancer at Stage 1.
Backed by visionary partners, we are redefining how discovery itself is done.
