To make electronics, you need chips, wafers, transistors, reticles, and... To make these, you must see, test and manufacture them at scale—faster and better than ever before. That's where KLA comes in. Whether you're early in your career or an experienced professional, you'll solve complex challenges, work alongside brilliant minds and help shape the future of technology.

Group/Division

The Semiconductor Products and Customers (Semi PC) business unit designs, builds and sells KLA’s product portfolio to help chip manufacturers meet high-quality standards for technologies like AI, data centers, automotive and electronic devices. Our inspection, metrology, and analytics systems detect and monitor defects across logic and memory chips, specialty semiconductors, wafers, reticles, advanced packaging, process equipment and materials. We also develop technologies for specialty processes, IC substrates, and PCB manufacturing, including etch and deposition, component inspection, and imaging and analytics. The e-Beam division plays a critical role in KLA’s inspection ecosystem, with tools that deliver high-resolution, timely insights into defects and critical locations on the wafer. Used alongside KLA’s patterned and bare wafer inspectors, e-Beam systems help our customers quickly identify and understand yield-impacting issues—enabling faster, more effective actions to correct the manufacturing process.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will play a key part in advancing business priorities by delivering high-impact work across your area of expertise.

Take on the kind of engineering problems that define the next generation of semiconductor technology, with the technical ownership and influence to shape how some of the world’s most advanced e-beam systems are designed, built, and brought to market. As a senior technical leader, you will own complex mechanical systems and major subsystems from concept through production, making critical system-level decisions and influencing future platform architectures. You will work across mechanical, electrical, controls, systems, manufacturing, service, suppliers, and customers to turn demanding requirements into innovative, reliable solutions. This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer who wants to expand their technical influence without giving up hands-on engineering. You will solve challenging problems involving precision mechanics, vacuum, thermal management, vibration, high voltage, system integration, and manufacturability while helping shape the technical direction of future platforms.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Shape next-generation technology: Influence architecture and technical decisions for advanced multi-beam e-beam inspection and review systems.
  • Own meaningful engineering problems: Take major subsystems from requirements and feasibility through design, integration, validation, and release.
  • Expand your technical impact: Move beyond an individual component or discipline and influence decisions at the system and platform level.
  • Stay close to the engineering: Combine technical leadership with hands-on design, analysis, prototyping, troubleshooting, and system integration.
  • Work across boundaries: Collaborate with customers, suppliers, manufacturing, service, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to solve problems that cannot be addressed within a single discipline.

Job Duties, but not limited to:

  • Lead the development of complex mechanical subsystems and contribute to overall platform architecture.
  • Translate customer, product, and system needs into clear engineering requirements and technical solutions.
  • Drive technical decisions with a high degree of independence, including feasibility studies, trade-off analysis, risk retirement, and requirements definition.
  • Own solutions throughout the full development lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through prototype, integration, validation, release, and production.
  • Develop mechanical designs and engineering drawings using 3D CAD tools.
  • Lead or perform engineering analysis including thermal, fluid, vibration, structural, tolerance, and finite element analysis.
  • Drive prototype builds, material procurement, subsystem integration, system-level testing, and performance validation.
  • Lead design reviews and technical discussions across multidisciplinary and cross-division teams.
  • Partner with manufacturing and suppliers to improve manufacturability, scalability, quality, and technical readiness.
  • Develop assembly, integration, test, troubleshooting, and service procedures to support production and field teams.
  • Lead resolution of complex system integration, manufacturing, and field issues.
  • Capture and communicate best-known methods to strengthen organizational capability.
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance across multiple experience levels.
  • Influence technology roadmaps and the architecture of future product platforms.

Qualifications:

  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals with experience designing complex electromechanical or precision-engineered systems.
  • Experience on vacuum chamber design is required
  • High voltage related design experience is desired
  • Demonstrated experience owning hardware or subsystem development from concept through integration and validation.
  • Strong knowledge of precision machine design, including GD&T, tolerance analysis, materials, machine elements, and fabrication methods.
  • Experience with mechanical analysis and simulation, such as structural, thermal, vibration, fluid, or FEA.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD tools; Creo/ProE experience is beneficial.
  • Experience integrating mechanical hardware into complex multidisciplinary systems.
  • Ability to lead technical decisions, communicate trade-offs, and drive resolution of complex engineering problems.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate (Academic) Degree and related work experience of 3 years; Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 6 years; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 8 years
