As a Senior Mechanical Design Lead, you will take technical ownership of the design activities across both new product development and existing product development projects. You will act as the mechanical technical authority and the primary interface towards the Project Manager for all mechanical engineering activities.

In this role, you will translate Product Demand and Product Requirements into clear technical specifications and robust, manufacturable solutions. You will guide projects from concept development and detailed design through verification and industrialization, while ensuring the right balance between performance, quality, cost and lead time.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams and provide technical leadership to mechanical engineers, helping to ensure that innovative product concepts are transformed into high-quality products that deliver value to our customers.

Your Opportunity

  • Lead design activities across new product development and existing product development projects.
  • Take ownership of the mechanical technical solution throughout the complete project lifecycle.
  • Act as the primary mechanical interface towards the Project Manager, providing regular updates on technical progress, engineering estimates, risks and resource requirements.
  • Translate Product Demand and Product Requirements into clear Component Technical Specifications that result in manufacturable solutions.
  • Develop product concepts and create 3D CAD models, assemblies and layouts using SolidWorks.
  • Define the mechanical architecture and design intent, providing clear technical direction to engineers responsible for detailed design and engineering deliverables.
  • Estimate and continuously update mechanical engineering effort throughout the project phases to support planning, resource allocation and decision-making.
  • Lead and contribute to Design Reviews, Design FMEA and Verification Plans to ensure robust and high-quality designs.
  • Create and review engineering documentation, including CAD models, manufacturing drawings, calculations and technical specifications.
  • Optimize designs for performance, manufacturability, quality, serviceability and cost.
  • Mentor mechanical engineers and promote engineering best practices across the organization.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Project Management, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing and Service to ensure successful product delivery.

Your Experience

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in mechanical product development.
  • Proven experience leading the mechanical design within multidisciplinary development projects.
  • Strong CAD skills in SolidWorks and experience working with PDM/ePDM systems.
  • Experience developing products from concept through production and industrialization.
  • Experience designing sheet metal products and components.
  • Experience performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA/FEM) to validate and optimize mechanical designs.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing methods and industrial production processes.
  • Experience with Design FMEA, DFM and DFA.
  • Ability to translate Product Requirements into robust and practical technical solutions.
  • Strong communication, planning and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Meritorious

  • Experience with HVAC or climate control products.
