Cutting Edge Music Tech - On-Demand Vinyl Records

We're seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our R&D Engineering Team and help redefine the music industry. The company has invented a new technology to produce on-demand vinyl records and built a web platform for music creators to create and sell their products worldwide via our store at zero cost. We are working with the leading record labels, streaming services, digital service providers, distributors, and iconic global artists who are keen to partner with us to build a global solution for physical media. But most of all, we would also like to give small artists and artists at the beginning of their careers frictionless access to offer Vinyl and CD to their fans via our innovative solution and planned production/fulfilment centres in Europe, the USA and Asia.

The vinyl market has been growing on average more than 20% yearly over the last 16 years, and even CDs are growing for the first time in two decades. Over 30 million creators are releasing their music online today, and they are growing 30% a year. They represent the fastest-growing music segment. Most of them would like to have their music on vinyl or CD for their friends & family, and especially their fans. elasticStage will provide them with easy and affordable access via its unique and scalable on-demand tech.

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who is obsessed with precision, reliability, and error prevention. This is a pivotal role: you will ensure that our machinery and production systems run with flawless accuracy and consistency, while putting in place the processes and controls that make this possible. You will be empowered to set and enforce rigorous standards, implement robust quality systems, and create error-proof processes that drive continuous improvement across mechanical design and manufacturing.

If you are motivated by precision and process, and want to be the trusted technical partner to the CTO while shaping the foundation of a fast-growing disruptor, we’d love to meet you.

Requirements
  • Set and Enforce Standards: Develop, document, and enforce robust mechanical design and manufacturing processes to achieve error-free production of vinyl and CD manufacturing equipment.
  • Error Prevention & Root Cause Elimination: Proactively identify potential sources of error and variability. Implement corrective and preventive measures to achieve zero-defect outcomes.
  • Process Creation & Optimisation: Design workflows, documentation systems, and checkpoints that minimise risk and make error prevention scalable, ensuring consistent quality.
  • Precision Engineering: Deliver 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and BOMs with meticulous attention to manufacturability, repeatability, and compliance.
  • Quality Assurance: Lead inspection, testing, and validation of mechanical systems. Implement systematic quality controls that guarantee reliability.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the CTO, manufacturing partners, and cross-functional teams to ensure that all mechanical solutions are fully integrated and meet our quality benchmarks.
  • Mentorship: Share best practices and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Suggest incremental innovations and improvements that strengthen reliability and efficiency without compromising control.
  • Ensure Compliance: Uphold industry standards, safety regulations, and internal quality benchmarks at all times.
  • Incremental Innovation: While the focus is on control, you will also have the opportunity to suggest and implement incremental improvements to processes and systems that further reduce errors and enhance reliability.
Qualifications
  • Deep, hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining machinery, automation, or high-precision systems.
  • Proven track record of delivering reliable, high-quality results, demonstrated through a portfolio, project examples, or other evidence of impact.
  • Expertise in CAD tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD, etc.) and engineering analysis, with strong knowledge of materials, mechanics, tolerancing, DFM/DFA, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to identify, analyse, and eliminate sources of error in mechanical systems.
  • Strong discipline in documentation, process creation, and compliance with standards.
  • Clear and direct communicator who values feedback as a tool for continuous improvement.
  • Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001), root cause analysis, or Six Sigma methodologies (preferred).
  • Excited to contribute to a diverse, inclusive team and foster a culture of accountability for quality.
Nice to have
  • Knowledge of vinyl or CD production processes.
  • Experience scaling engineering in startups or fast-growth environments.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
