Level is a learning technology company dedicated to helping students build real academic and life skills with confidence and joy. We combine proven curriculum principles with world class interactive design to make meaningful practice something students want to come back to, not something they struggle through.

We support what teachers, schools, and parents are already doing by increasing student engagement with high quality, standards aligned practice that reinforces classroom learning. That’s why we’re building:

For students: Rewarding and motivating learning experiences that meet students where they are to build real academic proficiency.

For educators: Tools that fit naturally into instruction and help students stay engaged while reducing teacher workload.

For parents: Activities that help your kid catch up or get ahead, build confidence, and minimize homework battles, whether learning at school or at home.

We are committed to helping every person maximize their potential and live a life of meaning. It’s a difficult problem that requires brilliant people and tremendous effort over time.

Level is seeking a Senior Market Researcher to lead Level's market research function. This is a senior individual contributor role for an experienced market researcher who can cover many functions, including scoping research with stakeholders, designing methodologically sound studies, fielding them, analyzing the data, and producing reports that drive real decisions.

You'll partner with marketing and publishing teams, but your work will inform decisions across the organization, helping us understand customers, the broader supplemental learning markets, and how Level is positioned within them. The work spans the full range of market research: segmentation, customer profiling, brand and positioning research, pricing and willingness-to-pay studies, concept testing, and ongoing tracking programs.

You'll own this work end-to-end, from initial stakeholder conversations through study design, fielding, analysis, and final reporting. You'll be the methodological backbone of Level's market research function, building practices and infrastructure that make this work reliable, repeatable, and trusted across the organization.

What You Will Do

Stakeholder Partnership & Research Scoping

  • Partner with marketing, publishing, and other internal stakeholders to identify research needs, translating business questions into well-formed research questions

  • Advise stakeholders on what market research can and cannot answer, helping them get the most useful evidence for their decisions

  • Build trusted working relationships across teams, including with stakeholders who aren't researchers themselves

Study Design & Methodology

  • Design market research studies across the full range of methods, including segmentation, conjoint, max-diff, brand tracking, concept testing, customer profiling, and pricing research

  • Develop sampling strategies and survey instruments that produce trustworthy, representative data

  • Develop the methodological standards and documentation that support reliable, repeatable market research at Level

Fielding & Operations

  • Manage survey fielding, including platform setup, recruitment, sampling execution, and data collection quality

  • Work with external panel providers and recruitment vendors when representative samples require it

  • Maintain quality assurance practices for survey data, including attention checks, response validation, and weighting

Analysis & Insight Generation

  • Conduct rigorous quantitative analysis using R, Python, or equivalent tools

  • Produce both technical methodological documentation and clear business-facing takeaways

  • Translate complex quantitative findings into narratives and recommendations that non-research audiences can act on

Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Coordinate with the broader research team to integrate market research findings with UX, lab, and field research

  • Partner with the research team on analytical support and to shape the market research roadmap

Qualifications

Need to Have

  • 5+ years of experience in market research, with a demonstrated track record of owning studies end-to-end

  • Strong methodological foundation across the range of market research methods, including sampling design, segmentation, and at least one of conjoint, max-diff, or brand tracking

  • Proficiency in R, Python, or equivalent tooling for survey analysis and quantitative work

  • Demonstrated experience working directly with non-research stakeholders, including marketing, brand, or business teams, to elicit their needs, translate them into studies, and deliver actionable findings

  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to write for multiple audiences, including technical documentation for research peers, business takeaways for marketing, and persuasive narratives for publishing

  • Self-sufficient end-to-end: able to scope, design, field, analyze, and report on studies without dependency on other team members for routine work

Nice to Have

  • Experience in EdTech, education, or consumer research with parents and families

  • Familiarity with supplemental learning or K–5 education markets

  • Experience adapting validated scales or academic instruments for applied research contexts

  • Experience working with external panel providers (e.g., Prolific, Qualtrics panels, dedicated market research vendors)

  • Background in psychology, sociology, statistics, marketing science, or a related quantitative field

  • Graduate training in survey methodology, statistics, marketing research, or quantitative social science
