Ketjen Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Albemarle Corporation, is currently seeking a Trade Compliance Sr. Manager at our Clear Lake site (hybrid).
The Senior Manager, Trade Compliance is tasked with ensuring that the organization’s global trade activities are fully compliant with international trade laws, regulations, and standards. This role focuses on maintaining and enhancing the company’s compliance framework, monitoring regulatory changes, and mitigating compliance risks. The Senior Manager will collaborate across the organization, providing expert guidance on compliance-related issues, and leading a team of trade compliance professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with all relevant international trade laws and regulations, including export controls, sanctions, customs regulations, and trade agreements.
- Compliance Leadership: Provide strong leadership and direction to the global trade compliance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Operations Management: Oversee the day-to-day trade compliance operations for the Americas region, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations and policies.
- Customs and Duties Filings: Partnering with third party partners, manage customs and duties filings for the Americas region, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable laws.
- Trade Optimization: Evaluate and implement optimal trade and incoterms to enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to address trade compliance issues and provide guidance on best practices for trade compliance related concerns.
- Internal and External Communication: Act as primary liaison with government agencies and authorities on trade compliance matters. Communicate with internal stakeholders on changes to compliance requirements or changes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Business, Law, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in trade compliance, with a focus on customs and duties activities in the Americas
- Direct experience with Duty Drawback programs.
- Proven experience in evaluating and implementing optimal trade and incoterms.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience leading a global team.
- Excellent understanding of trade regulations and policies, with the ability to interpret and apply regulations effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools used in trade compliance management.
