Job Description:

As a Technical Accounting Senior Manager at Mars, you will be part of the Corporate Controller's group working with a team responsible for partnering with Mars business segments on technical accounting matters, investment accounting, accounting policy, external reporting and special projects. In this role, you will act as a trusted partner, identifying and delivering appropriate recommendations and continuous improvements based on technical experience.

What are we looking for?

  • Ideally, you'll have around 10-12 years of experience in accounting and auditing including audit experience or advisory services with a Big Four accounting firm
  • You'll also need to hold U.S. Licensed Certified Public Accountant / U.S. accredited Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (U.S. GAAP)
  • We want someone who is passionate around working for a large multinational company like Mars and enjoys delivering on complex work
  • You'll also need a solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial systems and controls
  • Experience in a for-profit corporate controller’s organization responsible for accounting policy and technical accounting analysis also preferred in addition to the required audit experience

What would be your key responsibilities?

  • Be the Go-To Technical Accounting Partner: Act as a critical advisor for Mars by evaluating complex, non-routine transactions. You’ll research, document, and clearly communicate accounting impacts across both external reporting and management accounting—collaborating directly with Business Unit and Segment finance teams, corporate leadership, consultants, and external auditors.
  • Lead U.S. GAAP Standard Implementation: Proactively assess emerging accounting pronouncements and lead enterprise-wide implementation strategies to ensure seamless adoption across Mars.
  • Shape & Modernize Accounting Policies: Own and enhance internal accounting policies within the global Finance Manual, adapting them to evolving business needs and regulatory requirements. You’ll serve as the primary resource for Segment inquiries on both day-to-day and complex accounting matters.
  • Drive Capability & Knowledge Sharing: Elevate financial acumen across the organization by designing and delivering engaging training sessions (e.g., global webcasts, workshops) and clear policy communications for Segment Finance leads and Business Unit CFOs.
  • Support High-Impact Strategic Projects: Play a central role in corporate-initiated transactions, including M&A, divestitures, joint ventures, and strategic financing arrangements, providing upfront technical structuring and valuation guidance.
  • Champion Year-End Close Excellence: Partner collaboratively with the External Reporting team during year-end financial close, driving efficiency to support a streamlined, high-quality, and faster close cycle.

What can you expect from Mars?

  • Work with over 130,000 diverse and talented Associates, all guided by The Five Principles.
  • Join a purpose driven company, where we’re striving to build the world we want tomorrow, today.
  • Best-in-class learning and development support from day one, including access to our in-house Mars University.
