As an NVIDIAN, you’ll be immersed in a diverse, supportive environment where everyone is inspired to do their best work. Come join the team and see how you can make a lasting impact on the world.

NVIDIA is hiring a State Income Tax Senior Manager to join our Tax team. In this position, you will manage key components of multistate income tax compliance, ASC 740 state provision, and planning. You will guarantee accurate reporting, mitigate risk, and uncover opportunities within a fast-paced, high-growth atmosphere.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Proactively identify operational and regulatory issues across the state provision and compliance processes, and resolve them before they become compliance or financial risks.

  • Direct the state and local income/franchise tax compliance process, including reviewing work papers and returns prepared by internal staff and external providers.

  • Assist with the quarterly and annual state income tax provision process according to ASC 740, with a focus on state-by-state current tax computation.

  • Lead state audits, notices, and information requests; coordinate responses and maintain strong, supportable positions.

  • Monitor state legislative and administrative developments; assess impacts and communicate risks and opportunities to leadership.

  • Analyze corporate structures and business changes to uncover tax risks and opportunities.

  • Develop and apply state income tax planning strategies (nexus, apportionment, credits/incentives, structure, intercompany) to optimize effective tax rate and cash taxes.

  • Ensure documentation, disclosures, and controls are provided; deliver audit-ready outputs promptly.

  • Drive process improvement and automation projects to improve accuracy, controls, and cycle time, including leveraging approved AI and automation tools to streamline repetitive compliance activities, improve workpaper consistency, and increase the efficiency and quality of state tax processes.

What We Need to See:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • 10+ overall years of experience including more than 8 years of progressive experience in state income tax within a large technology corporation's tax department or a Big 4 accounting firm's specialized State and Local Tax (SALT) practice.

  • 2+ years of leadership experience.

  • Demonstrated expertise in supporting ASC 740 income tax accounting, with a strong grasp of state current/deferred tax and associated documentation.

  • Comprehensive technical knowledge of nexus, apportionment, state modifications, credits/incentives, and controversy assistance.

  • Proven capability to lead all aspects of projects from start to finish, coordinate external providers, and communicate clearly with senior colleagues.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and a high standard for quality.

Ways to Stand Out from the Crowd:

  • Proven expertise with complex multistate tax challenges (combined/unitary, separate versus combined reporting, allocation/apportionment, and sourcing related to digital/product revenue streams).

  • Demonstrated track record of independently owning a multistate legislative monitoring process — maintaining state law change trackers, synthesizing tax alerts, and briefing leadership on pending legislation before enactment — with a proven ability to flag issues and advise leadership before they become compliance or financial risks.

  • Hands-on management of state provision workflows, including provision controls/SOX, audit facilitation, and establishing repeatable documentation.

  • Demonstrated ability to transform large data sets into tax-ready formats (e.g., data mapping, reconciliations, and employing automation to reduce manual effort).

  • Experience in state audits, settlements, and controversy resolution, including preparing position memos and collaborating with external advisors as well as experience in transaction support (M&A diligence, legal entity rationalization, integrations, and post-deal planning) from the viewpoint of state income tax.
