Job Description

To manage and lead staff and serve as a subject matter expert in the capabilities of Specialised Recoveries to ensure the effective and efficient rehabilitation, collections, and recovery of outstanding amounts in the non-performing and written-off legal portfolios. To continuously develop and sustain a comprehensive Specialised Recoveries operating model that defines best-practice, vendor management processes, structures, and process measures.

Qualifications

  • A LLB or a Bachelor of Commerce Degree or related. 
  • A relevant Postgraduate Qualification will be advantageous. 
  • A Driver’s License is Non-negotiable 

Additional Information

Experience: 

  • 8 years' experience of which 3 should have been in a managerial capacity
  • Manage the Collections department: manage & lead staff effectively to achieve the required results. Understanding of credit risk assessment procedures to determine the best route of actions ' both as it relates to unsecured & secured lending products.
  • Legal & Collections experience with a sound understanding of how the Law relates to the principles of financial credit risk management procedures. Exposure to Banking/Financial institution related legal & collections matters is a valuable benefit. 

Key Impact Areas:

  • Act within the prescribed mandate insofar instituting legal action and supporting of Liquidators by means of having a clear understanding of the authority, risks, scope, and limitations of the mandate given.
  • Adhere to the Bank of Namibia Regulatory requirements i.e. BID 2 and BID 33 by understanding the scope and limitations thereof and by keeping abreast of potential amendments.
  • Analyse credit data on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to highlight efficiency gains and identify adverse trends requiring management interventions that consequently assist in achieving set targets and credit process efficiencies; for both the Non-Performing Loans (NPL's) and Recoveries portfolios.
  • Design the required strategies and formulate effective tactical plans to maximise collections on recalcitrant debtors through instituting legal and collections actions in the most efficient manner to reduce the monthly impairment charges.
  • Drive flawless internal stakeholder management through regular reporting, feedback and improvement discussions on the performance of the Non-Performing Loans (NPL's) and Recoveries Portfolios insofar the net provisions raised and recoveries on account of bad debts.
