About the Team
As a member of the Catalog Engineering team, you will lead a high-performing engineering team responsible for building scalable, resilient, and high-performance systems that power how suppliers and sellers create, manage, and enrich catalog content across our global marketplace.

What You'll Do
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of high-performing software engineers by providing regular feedback, career guidance, mentoring, and growth opportunities.
- Build an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performance engineering culture focused on ownership, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Partner closely with Product, Program Management, Architecture, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate business priorities into scalable technology solutions and execution plans.
- Provide technical leadership by guiding system architecture, design reviews, and engineering decisions for highly scalable, resilient, and secure distributed systems.
- Establish and drive engineering best practices across software design, code quality, testing, observability, reliability, security, and production operations.
- Manage engineering planning, resource allocation, execution risks, and delivery commitments while balancing short-term priorities with long-term technical investments.
- Foster a strong engineering culture through technical mentoring, design discussions, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.
- Champion AI-assisted software development by encouraging the effective use of modern AI engineering tools to improve developer productivity, code quality, testing, and documentation.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate opportunities to improve platform architecture, engineering efficiency, and business outcomes.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years of engineering management experience leading high-performing software development teams.
- Proven experience building, coaching, and retaining high-performing engineering teams while fostering an inclusive and collaborative culture.
- Strong technical background with hands-on experience designing and building enterprise-scale, highly available distributed systems.
- 6+ years of experience developing microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, scalability, resiliency, performance, and cloud-native application design.
- Deep knowledge of Java, RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures, and modern software engineering practices.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase, Oracle, or Cosmos DB.
- Experience building cloud-native applications on Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
- Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams while effectively balancing business priorities and engineering investments.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills with experience working across globally distributed teams.
- Experience leveraging AI-powered developer tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or similar platforms to improve engineering productivity.
- Experience driving engineering metrics and operational excellence, including DORA metrics, service reliability, quality, and developer productivity.
