Senior Engineering Manager (m/f/d)
to be based out of their MedTech manufacturing facility in Norderstedt (near Hamburg), Germany.
The successful candidate will be a member of the Site Leadership Team and a key part of Ethicon's Global Technical Operations organization.
The role (referred to internally as the Senior Technical Operations Manager), will have accountability for leading the Site Technical Operations function, including Product & Process Engineering and Manufacturing Technology development and deployment.
Your Job SummaryThe Senior Manager – Technical Operations plans and directs the equipment and process related engineering and maintenance operations in the plant. He/she conducts engineering tasks for the planning, installation and maintenance of production equipment and components, including mechanical and electrical systems and other related activities in the plant in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. The Senior Manager – Technical Operations supervises all technical related plant projects and provides strategic direction regarding validation and process control procedures.
Your Duties and ResponsibilitiesIn accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:
- Develops department goals and objectives.
- Provides strategic direction with regards to engineering duties
- Ensures premises are maintained in compliance with product quality related, safety and health regulations. Enforces, promotes and observes all related rules and regulations established by the Company.
- Ensures sufficient use of personnel equipment and facilities.
- Reviews with subordinates planned objectives, status of programs and projects, problems and conclusions concerning assigned operations.
- Prepares and implements career development programs for subordinates.
- Prepares and controls departmental budget. Approves expenditures within defined limits.
- Prepares estimates and appropriation request for technical related capital expenditures.
- Establishes project completion dates, projects workload sequences, coordinates cost estimates and maintains control of expenditures for entire project.
- Develops and implements preventive maintenance and calibration programs. Ensures programs are effective.
- Ensure machine design complying to related safety rules, participate and support safety initiatives within the facility, such as emergency response, ergonomics, lock-out/ tag-out, etc.
- Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level
- Responsible for following all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices as applicable
- For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
- Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
- Performs other duties assigned as needed
- College Degree in Engineering or MBA
- Professional Engineering License highly desirable
- Ten to fifteen years’ experience in a manufacturing or technology environment
- Minimum three years of leadership, supervisory experience
- International experience desirable
- Advanced knowledge of lean manufacturing and manufacturing processes
- Advance computer skills and other software application(s). Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certified highly desirable
- Excellent interpersonal relationships and proven results in developing others
- Excellent presentation skills for different organizational levels
- English, fluent written and spoken is required
- German, fluent written and spoken is preferred; basic knowledge required
- Direct or indirect Supervision of all subordinates in the entire Engineering department: Engineers, Technicians, i.e., Maintenance Technicians, Electricians, Lab-Technicians.
- Job covers all Engineering responsibilities including: Production Maintenance, Process Engineering, Project Engineering, Materials Application.
- Initiative - Exercise initiative to adapt and/or develop methods to resolve equipment problems and improve output. Identifies and implements cost, quality and safety improvements. Responsible for planning and determining department’s objectives.
- Quality of Services – maintenance services must be of high quality to prevent or reduce to a minimum equipment downtime.
- Contacts – Engaged in contacts with various individuals, usually in supervisory or managerial position within the organization. Considerable contact with production management and quality assurance department.
- Follow current compliance regulations and standards.
- Comply with all federal regulated programs.
- Support Plant Diversity Process.
- Ensure safe working conditions and practices in the department.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is:
€90.400,00 - €156.975,00Benefits:
