About the Company:

Microchip FPGA Product Group is the leading supplier of nonvolatile, low-power programmable technologies. Our mission is to manage power consumption at both the chip and the system level, leveraging the industry's lowest power FPGAs and unique mixed-signal FPGAs to offer system designers a competitive edge. Our Design Center in Hyderabad, India is a growing and vital member of the group.

About this Position:

The candidate will lead the characterization team to support the rollout of the next generation products to the market. This cross functional role will involve leading the work of a team and will provide opportunities to interact with the many players of product development and rollout including Software Engineering, Silicon engineering, Program Management, Product engineering, Test Engineering, and Marketing.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the characterization team and enable team growth through internal development and strategic hiring
  • Collaborate with offshore teams to expedite bring-up of first silicon, and support validation for fast rollout
  • Work with stakeholders to define high speed characterization methodologies and infrastructure for the next generation FPGA and SOC product line
  • Define characterization, drive execution, track schedules and report back to core teams throughout the validation phase
  • Characterization of a wide range of IP including Digital High-speed peripherals, PLLs, and FPGAs
  • Correlation of pre-silicon results with silicon measurements
  • Drive continuous innovation to improve characterization coverage and accelerate time to market
  • Support customer’s requests to accelerate technology adoption revenue ramp

Requirements/Qualifications:

Required Skills and Experience:

  • BSEE or MSEE
  • 15+ years of relevant industry experience
  • 5+ years of managing small to medium size teams
  • 8+ years of experience in product characterization or silicon validation with emphasis on digital and mixed-signal circuits
  • 5+ years of experience in characterization and/or validation of serial protocols (PCIe/10GBaseKR/XAUI/SATA/etc.) and/or memory interfaces (DDR5/4/etc., LPDDR5/4/etc.)
  • Expertise in characterization of SoC, processors, PLL, Oscillators, etc.
  • Firmware Development on multi-core microcontrollers or processors (ARM/RISC-V or similar)
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment, using lab equipment such as BERTs, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, function generators, etc.
  • Experience in evaluation of various laboratory equipment such as BERTs, Oscilloscopes, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals including CMOS device operation and characteristics
  • Experience in board design fundamentals, signal and power integrity
  • Experience with Verilog or VHDL
  • Exposure to automated characterization flows to maximize use of equipment
  • Critical thinking, creative, problem-solving, forward planning, and strategic thinking
  • Must have strong self-learning ability, leadership, decision making, enjoy working in teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Result driven, Quality and goal oriented
  • Analytical and organized

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of JTAG protocol highly desirable
  • Working knowledge of SOC and/or FPGA Architectures
  • Knowledge of FPGA design synthesis and routing associated with Microchip (Libero), AMD/Xilinx (Vivado, ISE), or Intel/Altera (Quartus) tools
  • Working knowledge of at least 1 of the following languages: Java/ C/C++, Visual Basic and/or Perl
  • Analog and mixed signal circuit design. Working experience with analog and/or digital systems is an advantage
