The Senior Manager, Scrum Master is responsible for leading one or more Agile teams, coaching Scrum Masters, driving Agile maturity, and ensuring successful delivery of strategic business and technology initiatives. This role partners with Product Owners, Engineering, Delivery Leaders, and business stakeholders to remove impediments, improve team effectiveness, manage risks, and deliver measurable business value. The position often supports portfolio planning, financial management, and organizational Agile transformation efforts.
Key ResponsibilitiesAgile Leadership & Coaching
- Lead and mentor Scrum Masters across multiple teams.
- Champion Agile, Scrum, and SAFe principles throughout the organization.
- Coach teams on self-organization, continuous improvement, and delivery excellence.
- Facilitate Agile transformations and maturity assessments.
Delivery Management
- Ensure delivery of strategic initiatives, programs, and features.
- Facilitate Sprint Planning, Reviews, Retrospectives, and PI Planning events.
- Track team performance, velocity, predictability, and delivery metrics.
- Remove organizational and team impediments impacting delivery. [
Stakeholder & Executive Engagement
- Partner with Product Owners, business leaders, and technology teams.
- Provide executive-level status reporting and communications.
- Manage dependencies across teams and portfolios.
- Lead governance and escalation discussions as needed.
Resource & Financial Management
- Support capacity planning and resource allocation.
- Assist with budget forecasting, financial tracking, and investment planning.
- Align delivery resources with business priorities and portfolio objectives.
- Monitor program risks and value realization.
Risk & Continuous Improvement
- Identify delivery risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Drive retrospectives and process improvements.
- Promote transparency, accountability, and quality outcomes.
- Establish and monitor Agile performance measures.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in a technology driven environment
- Advanced knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and SAFe frameworks.
- Experience leading large-scale technology or business initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
- Experience with Agile tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, and Clarity.
Preferred Qualifications
- SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) Certification
- SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) Certification
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) Certification
- Professional Scrum Master (PSM) Certification
- PMP Certification
Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$118,450.00 - $236,900.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
