Position: Senior Manager, QA Engineering – Cloud Networking

About the Role
Extreme Networks is seeking a Senior Manager, QA Engineering to lead quality strategy and execution for our Cloud Networking platform. In this role, you will build and scale a high-performing quality engineering organization responsible for the reliability, scalability, and security of our cloud-managed networking solutions (Extreme Platform ONE, ExtremeCloud IQ, and related SaaS services). You will partner closely with Development, Product Management, DevOps/SRE, and Customer Support to ensure every release meets the highest standards of quality before it reaches our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of QA engineers and SDETs across manual, automation, performance, and security testing disciplines.
- Define and drive the End to End Integration and System quality strategy, test methodology, and release quality gates for the Cloud Networking product portfolio.
- Own end-to-end test planning and execution for cloud-native, multi-tenant SaaS applications, including functional, regression, scalability, resiliency, and upgrade testing.
- Champion a shift-left quality culture by leveraging AI, embedding automated testing, CI/CD quality gates, and observability into the development lifecycle.
- Partner with Engineering and Product leadership to assess release readiness, manage risk, and make data-driven go/no-go decisions.
- Build and scale test automation frameworks for APIs, microservices, UI, and network device/cloud integration testing.
- Establish and track quality metrics (defect escape rate, test coverage, MTTR, automation ROI) and report on quality health to senior leadership.
- Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement processes for escaped defects and customer-impacting issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional and globally distributed teams, including outsourced/offshore QA partners, to ensure consistent quality practices.
- Manage QA budget, tooling investments (e.g., test management, automation, performance/load testing platforms), and vendor relationships.
- Stay current with industry best practices in cloud networking, SD-WAN, Wi-Fi, and network access control to inform test strategy.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 10+ years of software quality engineering experience, including 4+ years in a QA leadership/people management role.
- Proven experience testing cloud-based/SaaS platforms; networking domain experience (switching, wireless, SD-WAN, or network management) strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience building and scaling test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, PyTest, Robot Framework) and API testing tools (Postman, REST Assured).
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and microservices-based architectures.
- Solid grasp of performance, load, scalability, and security testing methodologies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of building high-performing, globally distributed teams.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing network management/monitoring platforms or IoT/edge device integrations.
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, Splunk).
- Certifications such as ISTQB, CSM/CSPO, or cloud certifications (AWS/Azure).
- Experience in a networking or telecommunications hardware/software company.
