The Senior Product Development Manager manage two or more categories of new product development projects from line plan or initial concept to product launch. This role will communicate and coordinate with cross-functional counterparts to facilitate timely product introductions.
Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day management of the PD calendar, meetings and tasks
- Build calendar in Excel
- Research trends and materials for future markets
- Pull related materials for review at the beginning of each market
- Oversee and partner with Associate Manager / Coordinator on the day-to-day responsibilities
- Review & Approve related PD calendars across all brands under pillar with guidance of VP /Director
- Monitor project status for brand/category to identify and mitigate risks
- Answer Backbone communication daily for all markets/seasons
- Update Backbone dates and keep current
- Utilize strong planning skills and work with VP/ Director to ensure that there is no overlap or conflict between pillar brands
- Work with VP/ Director to plan and balance capacity for bottleneck resources within and across pillars
- Review existing calendars and new product plan requests
- Work with Design counterpart to identify design specific capacity issues
- Continuously partner with Design, Brand and Supply Chain counterparts to ensure continuity of message and intent
- Balance project priorities of aesthetics, cost and timeline
- Involve appropriate management when conflict arises
- Monitor milestone timelines to ensure adherence to schedule
- Work with Director and other key stakeholders to solve open issues and identify impact of milestone changes on total timeline and define impact.
- Coordination of PD milestone approvals
- Lead the structure and flow of key milestone related meetings (costing, prototype, etc.)
- Speak to PD and FE/CH Feedback
- Attend licensor meetings when applicable
- For external meetings, ensure that all physical and data requirements are present at all meetings (i.e.: samples, specs, components, pro forma paperwork)
- Review costing/gross margin and present to the brand
- Lead the structure and flow of key milestone related meetings (costing, prototype, etc.)
- Oversee Prototype Management with Jr. Manager/coordinator
- Review all incoming prototypes. Check BB for FE/CH comments
- Check prototypes against spec packs
- Maintain accurate project plan and status documentation with Jr. Manager/Coordinator
- Create/Consolidate meeting notes and provide clear direction in BB to global team though-out the development process
- Ensure adherence to departmental standard
- Update GM spreadsheet
- Analyze and report KPIs for brand/category
- Identify root cause of issues
- Partner with VP / Director to lead improvement initiatives to continually improve KPIs
- Ensure documentation of Brand specific quality and aesthetic standards for reference use.
- Work with FE/CH and Design Partners to ensure standards are current.
- Manage and Develop all direct reports
- Create career path and provide regular feedback
- Follow ADR process as provided by HR in close partnership with VP/Director
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of service related experience in a similar position (with minimum of 3 years experience in jewelry)
- College degree required
- Up to date with market trends
- Knowledge of end-to-end product development process
- Knowledge of technical watch/jewelry construction
- Knowledge of manufacturers and processes
- Knowledge of brands / product lines
- Strong Project Management skills required
