- Lead Category Management Strategy:
- Develop and execute comprehensive category management plans for indirect spend categories. Preferred experience with capital expense equipment.
- Oversee all procurement activities across multiple spend categories, ensuring alignment with company objectives. Managed at least $70M+ in addressable spend.
- Conduct in-depth spend analysis to uncover trends, generate actionable insights, and inform strategic planning.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to implement category strategies that drive cost efficiency, supplier innovation, and long-term value.
- Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Engagement:
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives to identify, evaluate, and contract with best-in-class suppliers.
- Conduct vendor negotiations, manage contract lifecycles, and ensure favorable terms aligned with business needs.
- Contribute to evolving supplier performance management processes to monitor and drive continuous improvement including leading business reviews and supplier scorecards
- Procurement Operations & Compliance:
- Manage procurement operations including vendor and item compliance reporting, ensuring accurate documentation of contracts, service levels, pricing agreements, and rebate collections.
- Execute disciplined price audits to verify contract pricing and ensure accurate invoicing across distribution networks.
- Promote standardization of purchasing policies and product evaluations to achieve operational consistency and efficiency.
- Team & Stakeholder Leadership:
- Manage, mentor, and support procurement teammates to drive performance and professional growth.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to align on procurement strategies that meet financial, operational, and sustainability objectives.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to support the organization’s sustainability goals and drive innovation within the supply base.
- Analytics & Reporting:
- Leverage spend management data to develop cost-saving initiatives and optimize category performance.
- Track, report, and present category spend analytics to executive leadership, providing insights for informed decision-making.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in category management and strategic sourcing.
- Recommend and implement process improvements that enhance procurement efficiency and value delivery.
Skill/Requirements
Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in category management, strategic sourcing, or procurement, with a focus on indirect spend categories.
Proven track record in developing and executing category strategies that deliver measurable cost savings, supplier innovation, and risk mitigation.
Strong experience in negotiating complex contracts and managing long-term supplier relationships.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive alignment on procurement initiatives.
Expertise in category planning, market analysis, and supplier segmentation.
Strong analytical skills to interpret spend data, identify opportunities, and build actionable insights.
Knowledge of procurement best practices, sourcing methodologies (e.g., RFPs, e-auctions), and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Strong collaboration and team leadership experience.
