As the Senior Manager, PMO, you will be responsible for overseeing larger, more complex projects and programs, driving strategic initiatives across the organization, and managing a team of project managers. The Senior Manager, PMO is also responsible for optimizing project management processes, aligning projects with business goals, and ensuring high-level governance and reporting.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Project Management Office, providing direction, support, and oversight to ensure the successful execution of projects and programs.
  • Establish and maintain project management processes, methodologies, and standards, ensuring consistency and best practices across all projects.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align project goals with organizational strategy and priorities.
  • Drive the development of the PMO’s long-term strategy, aligning it with the organization’s objectives and vision.
  • Oversee the project portfolio to ensure that projects are prioritized, executed, and delivered according to established timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Regularly report on the status of key projects to executive leadership, highlighting risks, issues, and mitigation plans.
  • Conduct project audits and assessments to ensure adherence to project management methodologies and organizational standards.
  • Continuously assess and improve project management processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement standardized project management tools, templates, and frameworks to ensure consistency and improve project outcomes.
  • Monitor and report on resource utilization, identifying potential gaps or inefficiencies.
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, providing guidance and support to project teams to mitigate and resolve them.
  • Develop risk management plans and contingency strategies to ensure projects stay on track even in the face of challenges.
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including senior executives, business leaders, and external partners, to ensure alignment on project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Ensure clear communication and reporting to stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, providing updates on progress, risks, and issues.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for all project-related inquiries, managing expectations and ensuring stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Manage and develop a team of program managers, providing coaching, mentorship, and training to build a high-performing program management team.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to improve program management competencies across the team.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification.
  • Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) or Certified ScrumMaster (CSM).
  • Proven experience managing and delivering large-scale, complex projects across various domains.
  • Experience with project management methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid approaches.
  • Eight (8)+ years of experience in project management
  • Four (4)+ years in a leadership or managerial role within a PMO.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.

Executes financials, business planning, organizational priorities and workforce.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • While at work, this position is primarily a sedentary job and requires that the associate can work in an environment where they will consistently be seated for the majority of the workday
  • This role requires that one can sit and regularly type on a keyboard the majority of the workday
  • This position requires the ability to observe a computer screen for long periods of time to observe their own and others’ work, as well as in-coming and out-going communications via the computer and/or mobile devices
  • The role necessitates the ability to listen and speak clearly to customers and other associates
  • This role may involve some travel and work hours outside of standard office hours
