What will your job look like?
The Senior Manager, Payroll is a member of the MTM Accounting and Finance team who implements, maintains and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes and other deductions. This role works closely with employees at all levels to assure compliance with established accounting policies, procedures, and legal requirements pertaining to payroll. The Senior Manager, Payroll is also responsible for supervision of Payroll Associates.
This position will be a hybrid position in our Lake St. Louis Office.
What you’ll do:
Certify systems are established to optimize workflow, meet the needs of the payroll rules as dictated by internal policies and collective bargaining agreements, maximize technical efficiencies (specifically incorporating an AI focus), and secure data
Oversee all aspects of payroll management including routine payroll processing, tax and benefits compliance and reporting, and SOX compliance
Monitor applicable federal, state and local regulations to ensure full wage-and-hour compliance
Analyze payroll processes and controls, identify efficiencies, drive change, and manage priorities
Ensure accuracy and timely processing of payroll
Partner closely with HR, Finance, and Legal to ensure payroll data accuracy and streamline workflow automation
Develop, manage and provide continuous coaching to direct reports in order to meet/exceed accounting performance expectations and goals
Manage payroll audits, 401K audits, reconciliations, tax reporting and year-end processes (ex. W-2s)
Perform special projects as assigned by the Accounting & Finance leadership
What you’ll need:
Experience, Education & Certifications:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
7+ years of progressive payroll experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity overseeing a team
Proficiency in modern payroll software (Workday strongly preferred) and HRIS integrations
Intermediate skills with Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word
Skills:

Reliable, trustworthy and ethical

Associates degree with emphases in accounting or appropriate experience preferred
Workday experience strongly preferred
Active Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is preferred
