Job Description

The Senior Manager of Market Research and Analytics will design, implement, manage, and execute market research and analyze secondary data for one of AbbVie’s Oncology brands, in the designated therapeutic areas. The individual will derive insights from primary and secondary data, and partner with the commercial team to inform decision-making around brand strategies and tactics. This is a hybrid role with the focus on Primary Market Research.

Key Accountabilities/Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Act as market research expert and insight lead for the Multiple Myeloma commercial team and support product launch in US.
  • Build solid relationships and become a trusted thought partner to therapeutic area leadership, guide brand strategies and key initiatives based on superior, objective customer insights.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to co-create and execute plans, eliminate redundancies, and ensure clear and consistent communication.
  • Create, maintain, and ensure timely execution of the market research plans for the brand, driving alignment with brand strategy and adapting to evolving business needs.
  • With manager support, build analytics solutions to answer critical questions and help inform brand strategy.
  • With manager support, develop presentations with concise, clear storylines, communicating key insights and recommendations while integrating data sources and existing team knowledge.
  • Participate actively in the creative development process, informing the creative brief and creative concept development and assessment by representing the voice of the targeted customer.
  • Maintain organizational knowledge on all insights and performance data generated relevant to the therapeutic area: including market and competitive trends, health care environmental influences and investment performance against various channels. 
  • Possess a curiosity and openness to new insight methodologies and a drive to expand the toolkit to better serve the business.
  • Ensure all market research activities are conducted on time, within budget, and in accordance with financial and ethical compliance guidelines.
  • Work with cross functional forecasting team to develop data-driven narrative for financial plans.
  • Establish a positive and productive work environment by creating trust and respect within function and the business.
  • Travel up to 15% of the time based on business need.

Qualifications

  • BA or BS degree required. Advanced graduate degree preferred (MBA, MA, MS, PHD, PharmD). 
  • 6+ years of Market Research and Analytics experience, business development or strategic consulting, preferably in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or related industries.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze market research results, synthesize findings and present insights to stakeholders across different levels.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrix environment with minimal oversight.
  • High motivation, strong work-ethics and positive attitude while working under tight timelines.
  • Possess a curiosity and openness to new insight methodologies and a drive to expand the toolkit to better serve the business.
  • Expert knowledge of custom research methodologies. Hands-on experience managing market research projects and analyzing and drawing insights from both qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Oncology experience is preferred.
  • Experience with pharmaceutical data (physician-level prescribing, institutional sales data, payer-prescriber-level data, formulary data, patient-level data, etc.) is a key plus.
