About the role

The Senior Manager Logistics Development drives large-scale, strategic logistics transformation initiatives within warehousing and transportation.

The role is accountable for translating strategic priorities into scalable logistics solutions, ensuring cost efficiency, operational excellence, and future-ready capabilities in a complex, matrix-driven organization.

The role reports to the Vice President Logistics, Gardena Division.

Responsibilities (Key Accountabilities):

1. Lead Logistics Initiatives

- Initiate, structure and govern large-scale logistics programs

- Define business cases, value drivers, KPIs and implementation roadmaps

- Drive execution discipline and measurable impact

2. Executive Decision Support

- Develop high-quality decision material for Divisional Management

- Translate strategic ambition into actionable logistics concepts

- Strengthen strategic alignment between operations and executive leadership

- Provide clear recommendations based on operational, financial and risk assessments

3. Sourcing & Strategic Procurement

- Prepare and execute RFQs for 3PL warehouse and transportation solutions

- Define sourcing strategy, scope, evaluation criteria and commercial framework

- Drive supplier selection, negotiation support and governance structure

- Ensure long-term performance and scalability of logistics partnerships

4. Future-Ready Logistics Design

- Evaluate modern warehouse solutions (automation, IT systems, digital integration)

- Assess technology enablement and scalability

- Align operational requirements with strategic investment decisions

5. Cross-Functional Leadership

- Lead and coach cross-functional project teams

- Navigate matrix complexity to ensure progress and ownership

Requirements: (Skills & Background)

  • University degree in Engineering or Business Management (Master’s degree preferred)

  • 5 to 10 years of professional experience in logistics, supply chain or operational transformation

  • Preferably experience in a Consulting Company

  • Proven track record in driving transformation programs, preferably within logistics operations

  • Solid understanding of the logistics sourcing process, including setting up and managing RFQs for 3PLs

  • Fundamental knowledge of modern warehouse solutions and technologies, such as IT systems and automation Experience preparing executive-level decision material

  • Strategic thinking combined with strong operational understanding

  • Strong financial acumen (business cases, cost structures, ROI logic)

  • High resilience and ability to operate in ambiguity

  • Ability to take ownership

  • Excellent executive communication and presentation skills, preferably gained from roles in business development or management consulting

  • Fluent in German and English, both spoken and written
