That work has earned recognition as one of Fast Company's Best Workplaces for Innovators (2025), TravelTech's Reservation Platform of the Year (2026), and one of Built In's Best Places to Work (2020–2026).
We're looking for bold, ambitious people to help redefine how businesses manage and experience travel. Working here, you can expect exponential growth, an ambitious pace, full ownership, and high-caliber colleagues who push you to do the best work of your career. Every hire raises the bar.
Come outpace the ordinary and build the future of travel with us.
We are hiring a Senior Manager of Information Technology to lead our IT organization, and to build the modern, automation-first IT function this business demands. You'll lead a distributed team of engineers and support analysts, and own the full IT function end-to-end.
This is a hands-on "player-coach" role: you will set the strategy, raise the bar on execution, and roll up your sleeves to fix the technical debt that's holding productivity back.
You will own the modern IT stack end-to-end — identity (Okta), device lifecycle, onboarding/offboarding automation, and SLA performance — while partnering closely with Security, People, and Engineering to make Engine a place where employees get what they need on day one and every day after.
What You Will Do- Lead the IT organization. Manage a distributed team of engineers and support analysts, with on-site coverage in Tempe and Chicago. Coach the team, define performance standards, and build the operating cadence that raise the talent density.
- Attack the tech debt: Define what a modern IT function looks like at Engine — device lifecycle, endpoint security, internal tooling, integrations. Retire what shouldn't exist. Consolidate what should.
- Own identity and automation: Architect Okta as Engine's single source of truth for identity, access, and automation. Onboarding, offboarding, provisioning, access reviews — if it's manual today, it won't be six months from now.
- Own SLAs and support quality: Define, measure, and hit SLAs across Tier 1/2 support, device lifecycle, and access management.
- Harden our identity and security posture: Partner with Security on Okta, SSO, MFA, and access reviews. Ensure that scale never comes at the cost of the basics.
- Set the IT strategy: Make sharp calls about where to invest engineering time. Say no when it matters. Ship the initiatives with the biggest business impact.
What You Bring
- Leadership. You have led IT teams before in fast-moving, remote-first environments. You've led a fix-and-modernize phase before, not just steady-state.
- Tech stack fluency. Deep experience with Okta (required), modern MDM (Intune, Jamf, Kandji, or similar), Google Workspace, and the Atlassian suite. Certifications welcome; real experience carries more weight.
- Project management and execution. You can scope, sequence, and land complex cross-functional programs (domain consolidations, IAM rollouts, tooling migrations) on time.
- Automation-first mindset: You default to automation. You have used Okta (or equivalent IDP) to power provisioning, and you know what a modern IT stack should look like.
- Player-coach depth. You're a leader who can still open a terminal. Deep experience across Tier 1/2 support, device lifecycle management, identity, and endpoint security. You can debug alongside your team when the situation calls for it.
- Security fluency. You understand the intersection of productivity and protection. You've partnered with security teams on audits, access reviews, endpoint health, and incident response.
- AI-curious. You explore how AI can augment IT operations — intelligent alerting, automated resolution, smarter employee experiences — and pull the good ideas forward.
- High standards, high judgment. You insist on the highest standards without slowing the business down.
Applications for this role will be accepted through 10/1/2026 or until the role is filled. We encourage you to apply early, as we may begin reviewing applications before the deadline.
