Lead Global Plant Engineering across the entire lifecycle of our customer deliveries, from sales support and concept development to project execution and lifecycle services 

 

Are you ready for the next step in your career? We are looking for an experienced, energetic, and global thinking person to manage and develop our plant engineering activities. Pulp, Energy and Circularity business line supplies complete pulp mills and process equipment for chemical and mechanical pulp production, as well as biomass- and waste-fueled power plants, boiler islands and related environmental systems. The business area’s customers are mainly pulp producers and power and heat producers.  

As a Senior Manager, Plant Engineering you will lead and manage global plant engineering resources and development across the full lifecycle of our customer deliveries, from sales support and concept development to project execution and lifecycle services. 

You will report to Vice President, Global Engineering and will be part of the PEC Global  Engineering Management Team. You will work closely together with other engineering and project execution functions as well as the TUs and BUs. 

Position can be located in any of the Valmet PEC location - Chennai, Tampere, Karlstad, Sundsvall, Gothenburg, Shanghai, Copenhagen

Responsibilities 

  • Lead and manage global plant engineering resources, execution, and development across the full lifecycle of customer deliveries 

  • Lead and manage discipline managers for piping, CSA, and layout, ensuring quality, timely, and competitive outputs for sales, procurement, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, and lifecycle support 

  • You will oversee engineering department activities and subcontractor performance to ensure successful project execution and business outcomes 

  • You will build and lead a high-performing engineering team through recruitment, performance management, succession planning, and team development 

  • Continuously develop plant engineering in a systematic way, supporting strategic goals and strengthening lifecycle thinking in engineering practices 

  • Build a result-driven PEC team spirit and develop competence and flexibility in the global resource pool 

Expectations 

  • You have a relevant B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Engineering. 

  • You have 15–20 years of relevant engineering leadership experience in project-driven environments track record of resource management and cooperation on a global scale 

  • You have excellent proficiency in English, both verbal and written. Other languages are considered an advantage 

  • You have strong people leadership experience, including team structure design, performance management, and talent development 

  • You are comfortable working in a global environment across multiple locations. 

  • You have willingness to travel, even at short notice

  • You will need to collaborate effectively across functions, drive operational excellence, and create an environment where teams can perform at their best. Experience in managing multiple stakeholders and leading change in a dynamic engineering environment is essential 

  • You have strong interpersonal skills and can build trust across a broad global network. 

  • You are result-oriented, forward-looking, and motivated by creating a true global team

  • 17–20 years of relevant engineering leadership experience in project-driven environments
  • Experience leading complex engineering projects with significant business impact
  • Strong people leadership experience, including team structure design, performance management, and talent development
  • Ability to collaborate with engineering, production, commercial teams, management, and subcontractors
  • Experience working in regional or global environments across multiple locations
