Micron is seeking a Senior Manager, Mechanical to lead a multi-disciplinary Global Facilities Engineering team supporting semiconductor manufacturing sites across the U.S. and Asia.
This role provides engineering system ownership and technical leadership across the full lifecycle of facilities systems-from design through construction, commissioning, and operations. The role emphasizes global standardization, innovation, reliability, performance, and sustainability while developing a high-performing engineering organization.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a global mechanical engineering team, driving technical excellence and operational performance
- Provide system ownership for mechanical facilities across global projects and sustaining operations
- Oversee delivery of large-scale greenfield fab projects, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, cost, and quality objectives
- Review and validate mechanical system designs to ensure compliance with standards, codes, and operational requirements
- Provide technical leadership to resolve complex engineering challenges across design, construction, and operations
- Establish and implement best-in-class engineering practices to improve system reliability, efficiency, and sustainability
- Drive engineering input into project planning, cost estimation, and execution strategies
- Oversee consultant and contractor performance to ensure effective and compliant project delivery
Other Responsibilities
- Build and develop a high-performing engineering team through recruitment, coaching, mentoring, and succession planning
- Define, track, and drive KPIs aligned with global facilities strategy
- Lead execution of global engineering initiatives and continuous improvement programs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (facilities, manufacturing, procurement, IT, finance, legal) to achieve business objectives
- Communicate strategy, project updates, and risks to senior leadership and stakeholders
- Identify and mitigate technical, operational, and project risks proactively
- Contribute to development and standardization of global engineering standards and Best Known Methods (BKMs)
- Support global sustainability and capacity planning initiatives
AI Responsibilities
- Leverage AI-assisted tools to enhance engineering analysis, planning, and operational decision-making
- Identify opportunities to apply data and AI to improve system performance and project outcomes
- Promote adoption of AI-enabled best practices across the engineering organization
Candidate Profile / Job Requirements
Minimum Required Qualifications / Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline
- Minimum 15-20 years of experience in semiconductor and/or facilities engineering, including leadership experience
- Strong expertise in mechanical systems within semiconductor or industrial facilities
- Proven experience across full project lifecycle (design, construction, commissioning, operations)
- Experience leading large, complex engineering teams and projects
- Ability to work effectively in global, multicultural environments
- Willingness to travel extensively (up to 50-60%)
Must Have Technical Skills
- Technical expertise, system design knowledge, and experience in semiconductor mechanical and process systems, including Cleanroom HVAC, Chilled Water, Heating Water, Makeup Air, Recirculation Air, Process Cooling Water, Process Exhaust, Compressed Air, Process Vacuum, and General HVAC systems
- Mechanical systems engineering and system optimization in semiconductor facilities
- Engineering design review and compliance validation
- Project execution and project controls (cost, schedule, risk management)
- Technical problem-solving and root cause analysis
