The Senior Manager, Finance Process Improvement & Automation leads the strategy, roadmap, governance, and execution of Finance process improvement across the Finance organization. The role partners with Finance leaders to identify and diagnose business-process issues, prioritize opportunities, redesign work, and deliver sustainable improvements. Automation and AI are solution options, not the starting point; the role determines the right intervention based on the business problem, desired outcome, controls, data, user needs, and delivery feasibility. This position leads through influence and coordinates work across business partners, technology teams, centers of excellence, vendors, and contractors.

  • Partner with Finance leaders to identify pain points, diagnose root causes, and define target-state outcomes.
  • Lead process redesign from assessment through implementation, including process mapping, standardization, controls, requirements, testing, and adoption.
  • Establish governance for intake, prioritization, funding, and delivery based on business value/priority, risk, capacity, and cost.
  • Translate business needs into actionable requirements, delivery plans, milestones, risks, and success criteria.
  • Evaluate and recommend the optimal solution approach, including process and system changes, automation, analytics, AI, or a hybrid solution.
  • Lead design, development, testing, pilots, and deployments, ensuring solutions are secure, controlled, scalable, and sustainable.
  • Measure portfolio performance, adoption, and value realization; conduct post-implementation reviews and drive continuous improvement.
  • Champion a culture of process excellence, automation, and responsible AI adoption through coaching, enablement, and change leadership.
  • Advise Finance leadership on emerging technologies, industry trends, opportunities, risks, and strategic recommendations.

Operating Model and Partnerships

  • Senior individual contributor who leads through influence, governance, and expertise.
  • Builds cross-functional partnerships to drive process, technology, and automation initiatives.
  • Drives execution through cross-functional teams and vendors, aligning on outcomes, requirements, and success criteria.
  • Defines decision rights, accountability, and escalation paths while retaining Finance process ownership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years leading cross-functional business process improvement, transformation, automation, or technology-enabled change initiatives.  Candidate can also have 6+ years of experience with an MS degree, or 12+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Finance or Accounting experience is required.
  • 5+ years leading portfolios of complex business initiatives, from diagnostic and root-cause analysis through process redesign and solution delivery, with responsibility for prioritization, governance, resource planning, risk management, and executive communications.
  • Working knowledge of automation, AI, controls, testing, deployment, and change adoption.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and lead cross-functional teams, contractors, and vendors without formal authority.
  • Excellent written, verbal, facilitation, and executive presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Finance & Accounting process expertise across close, reporting, budgeting & forecasting, procure-to-pay (P2P), order-to-cash (O2C), and treasury.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, design thinking, Agile, change management, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience developing business cases and measuring efficiency, quality, controls, cycle time, adoption, and business outcomes.
  • Proven partnership with Technology, Data & Analytics, Intelligent Automation, Financial Systems, Risk, Compliance, Internal Audit, and external vendors.
