Roku is changing how the world watches TV

Roku is the #1 TV streaming platform in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, and we've set our sights on powering every television in the world. Roku pioneered streaming to the TV. Our mission is to be the TV streaming platform that connects the entire TV ecosystem. We connect consumers to the content they love, enable content publishers to build and monetize large audiences, and provide advertisers unique capabilities to engage consumers.

From your first day at Roku, you'll make a valuable - and valued - contribution. We're a fast-growing public company where no one is a bystander. We offer you the opportunity to delight millions of TV streamers around the world while gaining meaningful experience across a variety of disciplines.

What is the role?

Roku is seeking a Senior Manager, Content Strategy & Analysis to help drive the strategy and analysis function for the Content organization across our US, Canada, and UK markets. The scope spans all Content types — Licensed / Original, Entertainment / Sports, FAST / Live / VOD. Working within an established function, you'll partner across Content, Finance, Core Analytics, Ad Revenue Operations, Subscriptions / Content Distribution Insights, and Product / Engineering to turn data into clear recommendations that shape the portfolio and inform investment decisions (licensing valuation, rev-share content mix, originals performance). You'll pair rigorous analysis with strong business judgment, own a defined slice of the insights and valuation workload end-to-end, and manage a team of 3. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to go deep on content performance and grow into broader strategy leadership.

For California Only - The estimated annual base salary for this position is between $185,200 - $265,300. Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location. This role is eligible for health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and paid time off.

How will I use AI at Roku?

At Roku, we don't just use AI, we work with it. AI agents and smart tools help power drafts, analysis, and repetitive workflows, while our people bring direction, judgment, and accountability. We value curious, adaptable builders, who can show how they've used AI, agents, or automation to move faster, improve quality, and scale their impact. Strong candidates know how to frame problems, guide AI-assisted work, check the output, and learn quickly. Above all, they bring curiosity, adaptability, and sound judgment.

At Roku, we're embracing AI as a powerful tool to amplify human creativity, accelerate innovation, and deliver better results for our customers. Across teams, we're exploring how AI can enhance our work—and we're only looking for people who are curious, adaptable, and excited to grow alongside these technologies.

What are the responsibilities of the role?

Strategy & Analysis

  • Build and support the Content strategy roadmap across Licensed / Original and FAST / Live / VOD for the US, CA, and UK markets; help apply portfolio-mix principles (flat-fee vs. rev-share balance, tentpoles vs. long-tail)
  • Marry Financial data (content costs) with Platform data (content exposure and performance) to build complete pictures of content performance and efficiency. Translate that analysis into actionable insights for Content, Merchandising / Marketing, and Product / Recommendations teams (what to prioritize/avoid — by content partner, genre, format, window)
  • Help maintain and extend the data-driven "content picking" / programming playbook that the content licensing and partner-management teams execute
  • Drive toward efficiencies in content volume across type, genre, share of voice, capacity and KPI dimensions
  • Iterate on valuation / greenlight / renewal KPIs and processes to keep analysis aligned with business outcomes

Insights, Valuation & Decision Support

  • Run a nimble "pace of business" insights muscle — answer recurring weekly questions from front-end dashboards and AI agents; partner with Central Core Analytics / Data Science for deep dives as needed
  • Lead title / package / portfolio valuation for flat-fee licensing (including Sports and Originals commissioning / licensing) across US, CA, and UK; pressure-test deal assumptions, lifetime value, and unit economics
  • Maintain content performance taxonomies and north-star KPIs; produce clear, executive-ready narratives (briefs / Confluence pages / white papers / PPTs)

Product & UX Partnership (Reco, Search, Merchandising)

  • Serve as a Content analytics partner to Product & Engineering (recommendation objectives, search coverage, content discoverability) and Merchandising (frameworks and playbooks)
  • Provide the data and analysis that support capability roadmaps to lift reach, watch time, and title diversity across Roku Channel and premium subscriptions

Operating Cadence & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Contribute to monthly and quarterly performance and strategy reviews with Content leadership and cross-functional partners; drive assigned follow-ups to closure
  • Partner closely with Ads (inventory optimization, sellable moments) and Finance (budgeting, forecasting, reporting)
  • Support recurring reporting and dashboard needs with Finance, Core Analytics, Data Engineering, and Data Science; surface data-structure and availability gaps that affect decision-making

Team

  • Manage, develop, and mentor a team of 1-2 analysts

Key Relationships

  • Internal: Content team leadership, Scheduling & Planning, Product / Engineering (Recommendations / Search / UX), Marketing & Merchandising, Ads and Ads Measurement & Analytics, Finance, Central Core Analytics / Data Science, Content Operations
  • External: Market intel vendors as needed

Success Metrics

  • Lift in content discovery and engagement (viewers reached, view starts, hours streamed, user frequency, title diversity, session depth) across covered markets
  • Improved title / package ROI and portfolio efficiency (cost/viewer, cost/hour streamed, margin)
  • Faster decision cycle times; clear, well-adopted analyses and playbooks
  • High trust with stakeholders; crisp narratives that inform resourcing and roadmap
What experience would help someone be successful in this role at Roku?
  • 8+ years working in streaming / content strategy, content valuation, or adjacent analytics / strategy functions
  • Track record contributing to (or helping build) a content strategy / insights function and its operating cadence
  • Fluency across rev-share, flat-fee licensing, and commissioning, and how each ties to audience, ads, and P&L
  • Creativity and demonstrated productivity using Claude Code, ChatGPT Codex or other frontier models in day-to-day workplace functions
  • Product partnership experience: have supported recommendation goals, search coverage, and merchandising / editorial systems with data and analysis
  • Strong quantitative chops (Excel / BI, title/package ultimates, cohort and churn analysis); comfortable partnering with Data Science on deeper methods
  • Deep familiarity with BI reporting tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, AirTable)
  • Executive communication: converts complexity into crisp guidance across stakeholders
  • People leadership: manages or mentors analysts and coaches for impact

What should I know about Roku's culture?

Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company's success rather than their own. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor. We believe a fewer number of very talented folks can do more for less cost than a larger number of less talented teams. We're independent thinkers with big ideas who act boldly, move fast and accomplish extraordinary things through collaboration and trust. In short, at Roku you'll be part of a company that's changing how the world watches TV.

We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn't real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.
