Senior Manager - Configuration Management, Services (m/f)

Job Description SummaryThis position of Senior Engineering Manager - Configuration Management is a global role combining overall leadership for our Configuration Management Services workstream as well as people leadership of the Services Configuration Management team for locations without local PL. The Senior Manager of this team will be responsible for leading CM Services engineering’s and contracted resources within the Gas Power Configuration Management organization in CMPD. The Services Workstream is responsible for Initial New Unit Spares for Services, Services Parts Processes and Outage Spare Parts Planning, Validation and Recording. This position covers all fleets and technologies.
This role will also act as the single point of contact for CMPD with the Heavy Duty Services ITR Engineering Organization. They will lead executive engagement and ensure priorities are aligned as well as facilitate communication between the two GPE teams.

Essential Functions

• Role model the GE Vernova Way:  drive innovation, serve our customers, lean is how we work, win as one team, and drive accountability.
• Represent CMPD engineering team to the Heavy Duty ITR Engineering Organization, including meetngs, operational and priority alignment to leverage synergy and flow communication two ways between the organizations.   
• Own performance evaluations for all solid line reports, as well as salary planning/adjustments and promotions. Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback and coaching. Ensure employees receive the training, support and guidance needed to continuously increase their responsibilities, technical contributions and growth                                   
• Managing the CM Services Workstream by planning the budgets and headcount required to meet team commitments. Lead a global team distributed across many locations.
• Drive consistent CM Services Workstream strategy and align with the broader organization. Implement standard work process rigor and best practice sharing across global teams to operate as ONE engineering team
• Establish and maintain business processes and ensure implementation through Lean tools.  Coordinate the Services Workstream Monthly Operating Review and coach the team through KPI & action plan development as well as problem solving.
• Interact with Digital/IT organization to resolve tools related issues and to develop strategies to drive state of the art technology and process integration among front end tools (PALM, GTCC PLM) and downstream tools (e.g. ERPs, ServiceNow).
• Identify opportunities for improvement in current processes, coordinate improvement effort with cross-functional, multi-stakeholder teams
• Continue to streamline processes, eliminate waste, and improve overall productivity.  Consistently seek Value Stream optimization (Kaizen) opportunities thru Lean tool set application.
• Proactive planning and attitude towards business priorities- SQDC, Customers and Strategy, and Culture.
• Willingness to research/learn/observe internal (and sometimes external) high-level practices in Lean and Quality in order to provide guidance and leadership to direct reports; in addition to maintaining alignment with Gas Power/Vernova Lean/Quality

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Science Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Computer Science
• For roles in USA - 8 years minimum experience in Engineering and 5 years’ experience in a People Leader role within Manufacturing, Sourcing or Engineering environment
• For roles outside the USA - This role requires significant experience in Engineering.  The person will have at least 5 years’ experience in a related process or discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in a contractor management capacity in a globally diversified landscape (multi-locational, multi-supplier teams)

Desired Characteristics

• Proven experience implementing, using and coaching foundational lean skills/tools: Standard Work, Daily Management, Leader Standard Work, Problem Solving, KPI Development, Waste Identification
• Experience in Services Process specifically parts and outage related activity.
• Prior People Leader Experience
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities including working with large organizations and various levels of leadership, up to and including Senior Executive and Vice President leaders.  Able to present key data effectively and clearly.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence cross functional/business/location and drive change.
• Flexibility in handling a diverse and challenging workload
• Highly motivated and self-directing/self-starter
• Substantial demonstrated capability in continuous improvement activities
• Knowledge of the Gas Power products, services, processes, and organizational structure

• Gas Power Engineering tools knowledge:  PLM – PLM GTCC, RPDM, Documentum, Outage 360, ServiceNow, Tableau.
• ISO 9001:2015 familiarity
