Job Description

This position is responsible for the oversight, development and execution of comprehensive communications strategies to achieve business growth objectives by enhancing the image and reputation of the institution and its brand among students, colleagues, alumni, strategic partners, the healthcare industry and the community. The communications manager is responsible for ensuring overall consistency, clarity and alignment of internal communications. This position will also work directly with the institution marketing director and vertical communications director to develop and deliver an evolving internal communications strategy through a range of channels by defining goals and program planning, conducting detailed audits and assessment of internal audiences, and drafting and developing required written communications to support key internal stakeholders.

  • Lead, train and motivate a team of communications professionals in planning, developing and executing comprehensive communications plans to support business objectives.
  • Create and cultivate relevant, engaging content that elevates the brand and drives leads through email nurture, blog posts, eBooks/eGuides, infographics, articles and presentations.
  • Support the establishment and maintenance of continual improvement to ensure aligned, proactive and effective internal communications processes institution-wide. 
  • Partner with key functional areas to implement coordinated and planned communications and to provide oversight of all communications to ensure consistency of messaging and alignment with defined institutional objectives.
  • Outline, research and draft/develop multifaceted communications plans including but not limited to University-wide updates, program launches, academic policy for curriculum updates, leadership transitions, issues/crisis management and major events/sponsorships.
  • Partner with the social media and external communications teams to drive engagement and ensure consistency of messaging across channels and audiences. 
  • Support executive management by drafting and/or editing communications as needed.
  • Manage and develop the thought leadership platform, elevating the institution as a thought leader and builds a beacon brand within the healthcare/education industry, especially across social media platforms.
  • Implement and maintain the company’s brand standards.
  • Manage internal communications specialists as required, in consultation with the institution marketing director and vertical communications director. 
  • Conduct detailed audits and assessments of internal audiences and channels on a regular and consistent basis; and report on those assessments, including making actionable recommendations for addressing identified concerns.
  • Analyze KPI/metric reports on communications initiatives and offer recommendations to optimize future efforts. - Coordinate with the internal communications team, marketing team and management to define and develop content to support internal communications including emails, newsletters, presentations, website and publications.
  • Develop expert knowledge and understanding of internal communication platforms and techniques to support the institution in delivering messaging to colleagues, students, alumni and strategic partners with accuracy, efficiency and timeliness. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in communications, marketing, journalism or a related field required.
  • 5-7 years of experience in related positions required.
  • Experience working with third party agencies preferred.
  • Well-developed writing and journalistic skills.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be able to collaborate with a variety of colleagues across the organization.
  • Strong organizational, logistical and planning skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks under tight deadlines while maintaining work quality.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $80,336.75 and $145,077.09. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
