Metsä Group is looking for a

SENIOR MANAGER, BUSINESS AI

to strengthen our Business AI team.

At Metsä Group, we are accelerating the use of artificial intelligence across our businesses, from wood supply and logistics to manufacturing, commercial operations and support functions. Our ambition is straightforward: identify valuable AI opportunities, implement them successfully and create measurable business impact.

This job is located in Espoo and you will be report to Director, Business AI.

What is the job that awaits you?

In this role, you will own the successful delivery and value realization of some of Metsä Group's most important AI initiatives. Working across businesses and functions, you will help ensure that promising AI opportunities become adopted solutions that create measurable business impact.

You will work directly with business leaders, business and IT teams and external partners to drive initiatives from concept to implementation and value realization.

This is a senior individual contributor role without people management responsibility. Rather than leading a team, you will lead complex cross-functional initiatives, influence stakeholders across the organization and help establish best practices for AI implementation and value creation.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape how AI delivers business value across a global industrial company.

You will:

  • Work across all Metsä Group businesses and functions

  • Collaborate directly with senior business leaders and decision makers

  • Own the value delivery of high-impact AI initiatives

  • Help define how AI opportunities are turned into measurable results

  • Play a key role in building one of Metsä Group's most important new capabilities

  • Solve complex business challenges with enterprise-wide impact

Your key responsibilities:

  • Identify and evaluate AI opportunities across Metsä Group

  • Facilitate opportunity discovery with business stakeholders

  • Build business cases and value hypotheses

  • Lead strategic AI initiatives from concept through value delivery

  • Drive adoption, value realization and business outcomes

  • Coordinate internal stakeholders, technology teams and external partners

  • Manage initiative roadmaps, milestones and risks

  • Establish and promote best practices for AI delivery and value realization

  • Contribute insights and recommendations for AI portfolio prioritization

  • Help develop Metsä's AI operating model and ways of working

What are we expecting of you?

  • Proven track record of leading complex cross-functional AI initiatives that delivered measurable business value

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in consulting, business transformation, digital development, analytics, product management, process development or similar roles

  • Proven ability to lead without formal authority

  • Experience coordinating stakeholders across multiple functions and driving initiatives to implementation

  • Experience developing business cases and translating business needs into actionable delivery plans

  • Ability to identify opportunities, assess value potential and create execution roadmaps

  • Experience managing external partners and delivery vendors

  • Experience driving organizational adoption and translating solutions into sustained business outcomes

  • Practical understanding of modern AI capabilities and applications

  • Working knowledge of how generative AI, predictive AI, optimization and intelligent automation can create business value

  • Excellent communication skills in English

  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior executives, business stakeholders and technical experts
