Senior Manager, Applications Engineering

Job Summary & Responsibilities

As Manager of CDA Group (Customer Development Applications), you and your team will focus on implementing new inspection tools and new features into customers' sites worldwide. Working closely with HQ application teams and collaborate with Eng., sales, Marketing teams bringing the latest technology into the field working closely with our customers, understanding their technical problems and finding solutions. Driving Beta’s, head to head’s, SOW’s, JEP’s. Strong analytical capabilities are a must alongside results-oriented mindset and strong communication both towards customers and HQ.

Key Responsibilities

You and your team will lead the day-to-day of key engagements in the field, driving Beta’s, H2H’s, SOW, JEP and execution of Product Line goals in the field. Your team is responsible for having all local application teams trained, with the latest knowledge, BKM’s to support the ongoing systems. Your team must have an in-depth technical understanding of the customers’ processes, requirements, roadmaps, specs; to establish credibility and trust in technical discussions. Your team serves as a bridge between HQ and customers. Thus, quantified, articulated, engaged, and proactive communication are key merits. Your team is Onto inspection ‘boots on the ground’, driving engagements for winning H2H’s.

Your team will support Marketing teams to articulate the technical use cases, deliver technical insights and requirements for future customers nodes.

You will work with multiple interfaces in the company – HQ dev. Apps, Engineering, Marketing, local field Apps across regions, and more. A positive, proactive attitude and teamwork mindset are critical for success in this role.

Travel: As needed, up to 70% in surge situations. You and your team will be based in Taiwan. As needed, this team will support all Onto inspection customers worldwide.  

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Education: Minimum a Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Control, Mechanical, Optical, Robotics or other Engineering fields associated with Semiconductor Manufacturing. Master’s or PhD preferred.

• Experience: Minimum 7-10+ years in the semiconductor industry, preferred minimum of 2 years as Team Lead or Manager with direct reports, managing customer facing technical engagements. Inspection Applications Manager experience is strongly preferred.

Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft office suite.

• Deep expertise in one or more of the following areas: Fab Process Engineering, Inspection and Metrology, Yield Engineering, etc.

• Exceptional customer relationship management skills, with ability to resolve high-tension high-urgency situations with an amicable and calm presence.

• Expert knowledge of Inspection and/or Metrology systems and methodologies in the Semiconductor industry.

• Strong negotiation and analytical skills using data driven approaches to influence and drive decisions.

• Strong organizational skills to stay on top of multiple projects of extreme high urgency and close attention from several layers of management – internal and customer side.

• Clear communications style with emphasis on pragmatic focus on outcomes.

• Ability to thrive in high-urgency, fast-paced environments with cross-cultural teams.

• Team player.

• Ability to lead from example and coach your team.
