The Opportunity:

This role sits within the Marketing function of Manulife Insurance Berhad and partners closely with business leaders to identify, shape and deliver AI-enabled opportunities that improve employee productivity, strengthen customer engagement and accelerate revenue growth. The position is the key AI practitioner in Manulife and works in strong collaboration with the Asia Regional AI Centre of Excellence, Data Office, IT, and cross-functional business stakeholders to translate strategic priorities into scalable AI solutions and drive enterprise adoption plans.
The incumbent is accountable for end-to-end delivery of AI, Generative AI and advanced analytics use cases from discovery and value sizing, to solution design, prompt engineering and evaluation, to deployment, adoption and ongoing performance monitoring. The role also requires strong stakeholder leadership building trusted relationships with business leaders, aligning diverse stakeholder groups around priorities, communicating AI concepts in clear business language, and influencing decisions through articulation of value, risks, trade-offs and change implications.

Position Responsibilities:

• Business partnering & stakeholder engagement: build strong relationships with Marketing and adjacent business leaders (e.g., Agency, Bancassurance, Operations) to identify AI opportunities, clarify business pain points, align priorities, and maintain a value-driven AI backlog that is jointly owned and understood by stakeholders.

• Advanced analytics & machine learning: develop and enhance models such as propensity/segmentation, campaign targeting, performance analytics, lapse and anti-attrition models ; support ongoing monitoring and enhancement of existing models and ensure local relevance through calibration and stakeholder feedback.

•  GenAI solution delivery & prompt engineering: Develop and implement cutting-edge machine learning models to tackle complex business challenges, utilizing a diverse range of algorithms and techniques, with a primary emphasis on AI tech patterns like RAG and Multi-Agent approach; collaborate with Data engineers and IT Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gain a deep understanding of source data and harness large datasets to prepare and optimize data for the development of solutions.

• Adoption, communication & change enablement: work with IT and People to activate employee adoption through playbooks, training, stakeholder communications and a community of practice; articulate the business value of AI solutions clearly to different audiences, coach business users on how to embed AI into daily workflows, and measure adoption and realized benefits.

•  Standards & responsible AI: contribute to AI governance processes by maintaining use-case inventory, supporting risk/controls assessments, monitoring solution performance, and promoting cost-optimized and responsible usage of AI services.

Required Qualifications:

•    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Actuarial Science, Statistics or related quantitative field

•    8+ years of experience in analytics, data science, AI / GenAI solution delivery 

•    Strong proficiency in Python and SQL; experience with analytics/ML libraries and building repeatable data pipelines.

•    Working knowledge of modern GenAI patterns (prompt engineering, RAG, tool/function calling, agentic workflows) and experience using enterprise platforms such as Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Studio.

•    Working knowledge of GenAI orchestration packages like LangChain, LangGraph, as well as a deep understanding of agile solution development principle

•    Experience with cloud and data platforms (e.g., Azure, Databricks/Spark) and basic MLOps practices (versioning, monitoring, evaluation, release management).

•    Strong ability to translate business needs into AI solution designs, communicate complex technical concepts in simple business language, and influence stakeholders across different seniority levels.

•    Strong stakeholder management, executive communication and change leadership skills; able to build credibility with senior business stakeholders, facilitate alignment across cross-functional teams, and articulate AI strategy, use-case value and delivery trade-offs with clarity and confidence.

Preferred Qualifications:

•    Hands-on experience on Agentic AI

•    Experience in insurance (life/health), marketing analytics, customer segmentation or distribution analytics is strongly preferred.
