As a Senior Manager of Accounting, you will demonstrate your expertise as a strategic leader, and system thinker who can drive our financial operations to new heights while simultaneously leading and growing the team’s skills, abilities, and expertise. This impactful role will provide consultation and technical expertise for Premera Blue Cross and its subsidiaries, a $5 billion group of companies.

What you will do:
Provide strategic insights and direction to the organization:
- Serve as a key advisor and subject matter expert within the Company on a wide variety of complex technical accounting and financial reporting matters.
- Collaborate extensively with stakeholders across the organization to support the and influence execution of Premera’s strategic initiatives.
- Leverage expertise in accounting and health plan knowledge to inform change and process improvements.
Provide financial management and accounting expertise:
- Oversee and ensure financial accuracy for critical aspects of the Company’s accounting function, including billing, GL, cost accounting, fixed assets accounting, consolidation, and revenue recognition.
- Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting, including the completion of month-end-close processes and reconciliations, ensuring accurate data management and faster decision-making.
- Research and recommend solutions for GAAP, statutory accounting transactions, and reporting requirements.
Increase operational efficiency and ensure compliance adherence:
- Proactively evaluate opportunities to drive efficiencies and effectiveness in accounting and operational processes/systems and the accounting close process.
- Recommend, develop, and maintain financial databases and computer software systems supporting the accounting functions.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Leverage and maximize Workday capabilities, identifying opportunities for process improvement, automation enhancements, and efficiencies.
Lead and develop a high-performing team:
- Build a resilient team that can navigate and thrive in a changing, continuous improvement environment.
- Mentor and develop your team, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth.
- Evolve the technical expertise of the accounting division, growing individuals as subject matter experts over their domains.
- Set the vision for the team, develop measurable goals that support the execution and success of company strategies.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. (Required)
- Twelve years of financial reporting and accounting experience or a CPA with seven years of reporting and accounting experience. (Required)
- Seven years of experience leading teams. (Required)
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience researching technical accounting issues, including familiarity in areas such as Revenue Recognition, Capitalization of Internally Developed Software, and Intercompany consolidations. (Required)
Additional preferred skills/ experiences include:
- Experience managing a multi-functional accounting team.
- Multi-company GL and consolidation experience and broad knowledge of general accounting functions including GL, AP, AR, Account reconciliations.
- Public accounting experience.
- Experience with Workday or similar applications.
- MBA/CMA./CIA and other Accounting/Finance Certifications.

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.
National Salary Range:
$112,900.00 - $191,900.00
National Plus Salary Range:
$128,700.00 - $218,800.00
*National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
