About The Role
- Lead the design of our AI research and production infrastructure and services, ensuring that our services scale while preserving flexibility for research teams
- Own our strategy for managing the growth rate of technical debt and costs across our stack
- Make sure we're solving the right problems with the right methods
- Share knowledge with colleagues and lift the bar for the AI Products team
- Mentor and develop members of your team, increasing our capability to build and operate intelligent, data-driven products and services in our core customer offerings
- Work with teams across Xero to improve the quality and usability of data
What you will bring with you
- Strong coding and system design skills in Python or another language used in web scale data and AI applications.
- SQL proficiency with a strong grasp of distributed processing principles, including data and machine learning (e.g. Spark, Dask).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective explanation of technical concepts to both technical and business audiences.
- Proven ability to establish practical standards and mentor junior machine learning engineers.
- Eagerness to learn and apply emerging Large Language Model (LLM) technologies to product innovation.
- Experience with established AI frameworks (e.g., MLFlow, Tensorflow, PyTorch), data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Prefect), and an understanding of how to manage distributed data processing workloads (e.g., AWS EMR) are highly valued.
