How you will make an impact?  

As Senior Licence Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of complex software licence portfolios with a focus on SAP, Microsoft and Oracle. You will ensure the cost-optimised, legally compliant and future-oriented use of our software products and actively support global IT purchasing. 

You will work closely with Procurement, Legal, Finance, IT Architecture and the technical departments and make a significant contribution to the further development of the company-wide licencing strategy.

Job Description

Your Responsibilities:  

Strategic licence and contract management 

  • Development and implementation of global licensing strategies, particularly for SAP, Microsoft and Oracle, but also for numerous other vendors;
  • Analysis, evaluation and optimisation of existing software contracts and licensing models;
  • Preparation, support and execution of complex contract and price negotiations with manufacturers and resellers, both independently and as part of a team;
  • Collaboration in the introduction and subsequent support of a SAM tool from ServiceNow;
  • Close management of a managed service provider for licences; 
  • Identifying cost reduction potential and deriving measures for consolidation and efficiency improvement. 

Operational licence management 

  • Ensuring compliance and minimising licensing risks; 
  • Establishment, maintenance and further development of licence inventories and databases (SAM tools); 
  • Conducting licence requirement and usage analyses; 
  • Support and assistance with external audits (e.g. SAP measurement, Microsoft True-Up, Oracle LMS); 
  • Advising internal stakeholders on all licensing issues. 

Stakeholder and interface management 

  • Close cooperation with IT purchasing, enterprise architecture, security and finance; 
  • Advising departments on licensing models, deployment scenarios and cost implications ;
  • Support for cloud transformation programmes (e.g. SAP S/4HANA, SAP RISE, Microsoft Azure / M365, Oracle Cloud). 

Process and tool development 

  • Further development and automation of licence management processes; 
  • Participation in the design and expansion of global SAM governance; 
  • Introduction and optimisation of SAM tools (Service Now). 

Qualifications

Required key competencies and qualifications: 

Professional qualifications: 

  • Degree in business informatics, computer science, business administration or comparable qualification; 
  • At least 5–7 years of professional experience in licence management or IT procurement at a global company; 
  • Very good knowledge of licensing models for: 

       -SAP (ECC, S/4HANA, Digital Access, engine licences, surveying); 

      - Microsoft (M365, Azure, Windows Server/SQL, Enterprise Agreements); 

      - Oracle (database, middleware, Java licensing, Oracle LMS methodology). 

  • Experience in supporting complex audits and contract negotiations; 
  • Practical experience in using SAM tools (especially ServiceNow).

Personal skills: 

  • Analytical, structured and solution-oriented approach to work; 
  • Strong negotiation skills and confidence in dealing with manufacturers; 
  • Strong communication skills with management and international stakeholders; 
  • Independent, proactive approach to work and a high level of responsibility; 
  • Confident manner in an international environment. 

Languages: 

  • Very good written and spoken German and English.
