About the role:

Samsara seeks a high-performing, creative, and proactive Senior Legal Analyst & Litigation Project Manager to join our Legal team. The role will primarily support Samsara Legal’s litigation function, operationalizing and managing Samsara's technical and procedural responses to third-party requests for data, such as subpoenas and eDiscovery demands. You will collaborate with the larger Legal, Product, Sales, IT, and Engineering teams to support litigation that Samsara faces, to build out the product in support of our customers’ evidentiary needs, and to help manage the end-to-end eDiscovery lifecycle.

This role is open to candidates residing in the US except Alaska, Austin Metro, Boulder Metro, California, Chicago Metro, Connecticut, Dallas Metro, Denver Metro, Houston Metro, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Seattle Metro, and Washington, D.C.

In this role, you will:

  • Champion Customer Data Privacy & Protection: Lead the operational verification, technical scoping, and execution of initial responses to subpoenas or other legal requests seeking Samsara customer data.
  • Coordinate with External & Internal Stakeholders to Address Customer Data Requests: Effectively liaise with external legal counsel, Samsara customers and their counsel, internal Customer Support, Sales, and Engineering stakeholders. Provide guidance to internal partners on strategies for resolving third-party requests seeking customer data.
  • Uplevel Strategies & Processes for Responding to Customer Data Requests: Draft and champion legal and operational policies around responding to subpoenas and  protecting Samsara customer data from disclosure. Pressure test and continuously improve existing processes for addressing and tracking customer data requests.
  • Enhance Responsiveness to Changing Legal & Legislative Frameworks: Monitor developments in federal and state case law and regulations, devising and implementing strategies that best position the company to manage customer data requests while driving business objectives.
  • Own & Elevate our eDiscovery Operations: Direct the litigation team’s eDiscovery lifecycle, from drafting and issuing legal holds, to executing enterprise-wide data collections, and managing final quality control for data productions to internal teams and external providers.
  • Drive Litigation Operations & Legal Tech Innovation: Act as a central project manager for active litigation portfolios, utilizing data-driven insights and metrics to identify process gaps and design scalable, tech-driven workflows to optimize efficiency across legal and cross-functional teams.

Minimum Requirements for the Role

  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in data disclosure management and litigation project management within a corporate legal department, law firm, or government agency.
  • Core Competencies: Strong ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects with rigorous attention to detail, excellent communication, and top-tier organizational skills.
  • Regulatory & Framework Familiarity: Operational experience working within boundaries established by the Stored Communications Act, Electronic Communication Privacy Act, Wiretap Act, Pen Register/Trap and Trace Statute; MLAT (Mutual Legal Assistance Treaties) and other data privacy frameworks.
  • Legal and Regulatory Interaction: Direct operational experience fulfilling data and evidence requests originating from U.S. or international law enforcement authorities, regulators, and civil litigants.
  • Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience managing the e-discovery lifecycle, including review platforms.
  • Professional Judgment: Demonstrated business judgment, consultative skills, and the ability to interface confidently with both internal stakeholders and external legal counsel.

The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below. Please note that base pay offered may vary depending on factors including your city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role is also eligible for an initial RSU grant with no vesting cliff, and ongoing refresh opportunities tied to performance, subject to plan terms and conditions.
