Managed Services is responsible for the reliability, security, and compliance of InterSystems-hosted platforms across public cloud, private cloud, and datacenter environments. This includes enabling a consistent, secure operating model that meets stringent regulatory and customer requirements while supporting rapid innovation and service delivery.
The Principal Security Engineer provides technical leadership across the security domain, defining architecture, standards, and strategy for securing enterprise and managed services platforms. This role is critical in ensuring that security is embedded into platform design and operations as InterSystems expands its SaaS and cloud footprint.
Key Responsibilities- Define and lead security architecture across cloud, datacenter, and SaaS platforms
- Establish security standards, patterns, and best practices aligned to enterprise and Managed Services operating models
- Own the standardization and strategic selection of core security platforms and tooling across the organization (e.g., identity, secrets management, network security)
- Drive consistency in implementation of technologies such as Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, HashiCorp Vault/Terraform, and Palo Alto across environments
- Lead complex security initiatives and cross-functional programs spanning product, infrastructure, and operations teams
- Serve as escalation point for critical security issues and incidents, driving resolution and root cause analysis
- Drive adoption of zero trust principles and modern security frameworks across all environments
- Partner with compliance and risk teams to ensure adherence to regulatory and customer security requirements
- Mentor engineering teams and influence technical direction across the organization
- 10+ years in security engineering and/or architecture roles
- Deep expertise across multiple security domains (IAM, network security, cloud security, data protection)
- Strong experience designing security architectures in hybrid and multi-cloud environments
- Hands-on experience with modern identity platforms (e.g., Microsoft Entra ID, Okta) and leading their enterprise standardization
- Experience with secrets management and infrastructure security tooling (e.g., HashiCorp Vault, Terraform), including defining enterprise patterns
- Strong knowledge of network and perimeter security solutions (e.g., Palo Alto firewalls, cloud-native security controls) and driving standard configurations
- Proven leadership in large-scale, enterprise-wide security initiatives, including toolchain rationalization and standardization
- Experience supporting regulated environments (e.g., healthcare, financial services) preferred
- Excellent stakeholder communication skills with the ability to engage at executive levels
InterSystems is providing a current good faith estimate of the anticipated base salary range for this position depending on a variety of factors including experience, education, skills, and performance.
Other compensation may include a discretionary annual variable target incentive.

Skills Required
- 8 years of professional technical experience or 6 years plus a Master's degree
- Experience with GitOps tools (ArgoCD, Flux)
- Observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK stack
- Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd)
- Open-source contributions in Kubernetes-related projects
- Strong knowledge of Kubernetes networking internals, CNI plugins, and eBPF tools
- Proficiency in Go, Python, or Bash scripting for automation and tooling
- Experience integrating Kubernetes with enterprise identity providers (OIDC, LDAP, or SSO)
- Must have at least one Kubernetes-related certification
