Location- Pune, India

Role Description

Engineer is responsible for managing or performing work across multiple areas of the bank's overall IT Platform/Infrastructure including analysis, development, and administration. It may also involve taking functional oversight of engineering delivery for specific departments. Work includes: •Planning and developing entire engineering solutions to accomplish business goals •Building reliability and resiliency into solutions with appropriate testing and reviewing throughout the delivery lifecycle •Ensuring maintainability and reusability of engineering solutions •Ensuring solutions are well architected and can be integrated successfully into the end-to-end business process flow •Reviewing engineering plans and quality to drive re-use and improve engineering capability •Participating in industry forums to drive adoption of innovative technologies, tools and solutions in the Bank.

Your key responsibilities

  • Senior Engineer designs and develops application code, implements technical solutions, and configures applications in different environments in response to business problems.
  • To meet the requirements of the business, the Senior Engineer in collaboration with architecture team proposes the design and architecture of the application or its components, investigates and proposes appropriate technologies to be used, creates re-usable frameworks and drives standardization where possible.
  • Leads delivery of other members of the team and controls their work where applicable.
  • Actively participate and contribute in Agile ceremonies including Daily Stand up’s, Sprint Planning, Sprint review, Sprint retrospective meetings
  • Take part in software and architectural design activities and support business analysts in designing new features.
  • Reviews the developed source code.
  • Ensures architectural changes (as defined by Architects) are implemented.
  • Provides Level 3 support for technical infrastructure components (i.e., databases, middleware and user interfaces).
  • Supports creation of Software Product Training Materials, Software Product User Guides, and Software Product Deployment Instructions.
  • Where applicable, manages maintenance of applications and performs technical change requests scheduled according to Release Management processes.
  • Fixes software defects/bugs, measures and analyses code for quality.
  • Collaborates with colleagues participating in other stages of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

Your skills and experience

  • 10+ years combined experience as software developer. Well aware of the agile methodology.
  • Experience with restful web services (XML and JSON) and messaging middleware (IBM MQ and KAFKA streaming)
  • Robust working knowledge of SQL and relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle), solid knowledge of UNIX/Linux including shell scripts
  • Good experience in test driven development or design (TDD)/ continuous integration/continuous deployment or development (CI/CD) Pipeline and Agile development (Junit, Git, Jenkins/TeamCity, Maven, and Gradle)
  • Good understanding of advanced Java design pattern, solid knowledge of data structures and algorithms
  • Development and activities like Performance tuning / Optimization.
  • Experience in designing, developing and maintaining complex Enterprise applications.
  • Experience with modern SDLC tools - Git, JIRA, Artifactory, Jenkins/TeamCity, Open Shift - is a plus
  • Proficient communication skills and Strong analytical skills.
  • Good understanding of Cloud Platform (specifically GCP) as a service offerings will be an advantage.
