Job Description:
The Analyst is responsible for the design, development, delivery, and support of enterprise applications in partnership with Technology and Business teams. The role requires strong expertise in Core Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Database technologies, Cloud platforms, and modern software engineering practices.
The successful candidate will serve as a technical lead and subject matter expert for application development initiatives, driving engineering excellence through solution design, code quality, automation, and AI-assisted development practices.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications using Core Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and Microservices.
- Apply expertise in multithreading, concurrency, collections, transaction management, and distributed system design.
- Lead the technical design and implementation of medium to large-sized features and enhancements.
- Collaborate with business, product, architecture, and engineering teams to define and deliver technical solutions.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex application, performance, and production issues.
- Ensure adherence to secure coding standards, architectural principles, and engineering best practices.
- Drive code reviews, testing strategies, CI/CD adoption, and cloud-native engineering practices.
- Utilize AI-powered engineering tools and coding agents (e.g., Lightspeed, GitHub Copilot, Devin AI) to improve delivery efficiency and code quality.
- Apply Context Engineering and AI-first development practices to effectively leverage coding agents and automation throughout the SDLC.
- Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance to team members.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for stakeholders and partner teams.
- Identify and implement opportunities for engineering productivity improvements and automation.
- Assess and manage technology risks while ensuring compliance with Citi policies and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of application development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience in:
- Core Java
- Spring Boot
- REST APIs / Microservices
- Multithreading & Concurrency
- Collections Framework
- Transaction Management
- SQL / RDBMS
- Cloud Fundamentals
- Experience with solution design, code reviews, performance tuning, and production support.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, testing frameworks, and Agile delivery practices.
- Experience mentoring developers and driving technical discussions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to independently lead technical initiatives with limited supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
- Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring platforms.
- Experience using Lightspeed, GitHub Copilot, Devin AI, or similar coding agents.
- Understanding of Context Engineering, prompt design, and Agentic SDLC practices.
- Knowledge of application security and secure software development practices.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to GenAI applications, LLM-powered solutions, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), MCP (Model Context Protocol), and AI platform integrations.
