Senior IT Solutions Engineer
Onsite based - Austin, TX
Key Responsibilities
Provide support services to GIS and internal customers for defined IT services, ensuring SLA adherence and high customer satisfaction.
Follow service management, incident, problem, change, and release management processes in accordance with established SOPs.
Monitor service availability and performance; analyze trends and recommend corrective and preventative improvements.
Perform root-cause analysis for incidents, outages, and systemic issues; lead corrective action and prevention initiatives.
Execute complex configuration and image changes following approved SOPs and change management policies.
Represent owned IT services in change management, architecture, and technical review discussions.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date technical, operational, and end-user documentation for supported services and platforms.
Create, maintain, and enhance Windows-based solutions and operational processes aligned with Applied Materials product and manufacturing requirements.
Gather, document, and translate business requirements into tool-server and image configuration changes.
Troubleshoot OS- and component-level failures; perform detailed diagnostics and root-cause analysis.
Identify and resolve OS, scripting, automation, and process gaps; evaluate solution options and drive continuous improvement.
Provide internal technical support and documentation, partner closely with software engineering, field support, and operations teams.
Develop and deliver training, procedures, and knowledge base content for users and operations teams.
Endpoint Security, Imaging, and Compliance
Lead endpoint security strategy for manufacturing and lab systems, including AV/EDR evaluation, qualification, and deployment.
Own Windows OS imaging, golden image standards, lifecycle planning, upgrade strategies, and deprecation of legacy platforms (Windows 10/11, Windows Server).
Design and support secure manufacturing and test fixture environments, including virtualized platforms.
Define antivirus and security policies that balance protection, operational continuity, and network isolation for air‑gapped or semi‑connected environments.
Design and operate malware‑free certification and end‑of‑line security validation processes for shipped tools and fixtures.
Provide audit‑ready documentation and evidence supporting security controls and malware‑free validation.
Vulnerability & Risk Management
Lead vulnerability assessment and remediation for manufacturing and lab assets using tools such as Tenable, Qualys, and Rapid7.
Track remediation progress and develop dashboards and executive reporting for vulnerability posture across business units.
Partner with Manufacturing, Product Security, and Enterprise Security to assess, prioritize, and mitigate risks in production environments.
Act as the primary IT/security liaison to Manufacturing Business Units, internal customers, and enterprise security teams.
Translate technical risks into clear, actionable insights for engineering, operations, and leadership.
Technical Experience
7–10+ years in enterprise IT, endpoint management, or cybersecurity, with direct manufacturing or OT environment experience.
Strong hands‑on expertise in: Windows Client & Server OS, SCCM / MDT, PowerShell scripting, OS imaging, and deployment automation.
Proven experience securing segmented, restricted, or air‑gapped networks.
Security & Compliance Knowledge
Deep understanding of: Endpoint security controls, Vulnerability management, and Malware‑free certification models
Experience supporting regulatory or customer‑driven audit requirements.
Systems & Networking
Familiarity with: Industrial network architectures, VLANs, firewalls, and NAC solutions, Virtualization platforms (VMware / Hyper‑V)

NoThe salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
