Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and
experienced Senior IT Administrator to join their dynamic IT team in Mafinga,
Iringa region, Tanzania. The Senior IT Administrator will be responsible for
the overall health, security, and maintenance of our organization's IT
infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and minimal disruption to business
operations. This role requires a proactive individual with strong technical
expertise, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to lead and
mentor junior IT staff. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in
supporting their growing business needs and implementing strategic IT initiatives
within the Tanzanian and international context.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the organization's server infrastructure
(physical and virtual), including operating systems (Windows Server, Linux),
storage solutions, and backup systems.
- Oversee the network infrastructure, including routers, switches,
firewalls, and wireless access points, ensuring security and optimal
performance.
- Administer and maintain email systems (e.g., Microsoft Exchange,
Google Workspace) and other critical business applications.
- Ensure the availability, integrity, and security of all IT systems
and data.
- Plan and execute system upgrades, patches, and configurations.
- Implement and maintain security policies and procedures to protect
the organization's IT assets.
- Monitor systems for security breaches and respond to incidents
effectively.
- Manage and maintain antivirus, anti-malware, and intrusion
detection/prevention systems.
- Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans.
- Educate staff on security best practices.
- Provide advanced technical support to end-users, resolving complex
hardware and software issues.
- Act as an escalation point for the IT support team, providing
guidance and expertise.
- Develop and maintain IT support documentation and knowledge base
articles.
- Participate in the planning and execution of IT projects, including
system deployments, upgrades, and migrations.
- Manage small to medium-scale IT projects independently, ensuring
timely completion and within budget.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve efficiency and
productivity.
- Liaise with IT vendors for hardware, software, and support services.
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure service level agreements
(SLAs) are met.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of IT assets, infrastructure,
configurations, and procedures.
- Generate regular reports on system performance, security status, and
project progress.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical leadership to junior IT
staff.
- Assist in training and onboarding new IT team members.
- Ensure IT systems and practices comply with relevant local laws and
regulations in Tanzania (e.g., data privacy).
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology,
or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT
administration, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
- Proven experience managing and maintaining Windows Server
and/or Linux environments.
- Strong networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs,
and firewall management.
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and best
practices.
- Experience with cloud technologies (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS,
Google Cloud) is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service
skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+,
Network+, Server+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate,
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)).
- Experience working in a multinational or diverse environment.
- Familiarity with local IT infrastructure and challenges in
Tanzania.
Skills Required
