Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Senior Investment Accountant in our Global Investment Accounting team, which is a centralized function responsible for investment accounting for the Company’s subsidiaries on a global basis.
This is a dynamic role which provides an excellent opportunity to join a fast paced, team orientated environment with exposure to a variety of financial areas including investment accounting, derivatives, financial reporting, accounting research, and statutory reporting.

What you’ll be doing:
- Oversight and responsibility for the completion of investment accounting related journal entries posted within the Company’s general ledger, validation of reconciliation and execution of related internal controls.
- Work closely with the Company’s outside investment accounting service provider, Clearwater Analytics, ensuring that any issues are timely addressed and resolved.
- Responsibility for accounting for the Company’s Alternative Investment portfolio.
- Assist with preparation of distributions and filings including parent reporting packages, financial statements and risk related investment templates.
- Assist with the Company’s investment audit related activities with the Company’s external audit firm proving information as requested, answering questions and efficiently supporting the overall audit process.
- Assisting with additional projects as they arise, including onboarding of investment portfolios into Clearwater Analytics, process improvements and system upgrades.
What you’ll bring:
- An internationally recognized accounting qualification, together with a relevant university degree.
- Minimum of 4 years investment experience, including public accounting.
- Financial reporting and/or Insurance/Reinsurance related experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of investment accounting, including pricing, impairment and fair value classifications required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; advanced analytical spreadsheet skills required.
- Experience with Clearwater Analytics an advantage.
- Exceptionally motivated, organized and detail oriented.
- Must be a team player with a willingness to assist across all areas of corporate reporting where required.
- Proven ability to work well under pressure, with significant overtime, and ability to meet tight deadlines and respond to changing priorities.
