Chubb Bermuda invites applications for the position of senior insurance accountant reporting to the AVP, Finance. The successful applicant will be primarily responsible for participating in various stages of management reporting, general ledger close, annual audits and regulatory insurance filings.
Specific Responsibilities include:
- Produce various management financial reports with analysis supporting insurance ratios, trends, and other key performance indicators for executive management for actuals, forecasts and budgets
- Analyzing gross & net written premium (policy level data) as well as commission data points, against comparative scenarios. Report and analyze premium rate and exposure, premium retention and prepare monthly premium management reports with commentary. Requires working with actuarial and underwriting teams
- Participating in monthly and quarterly general ledger close activities, including but not limited to preparing journal entries, data analysis and reconciliations. This work requires clear documentation, timely submission of files, follow up with other stakeholders for resolution of issues and escalation to management in a timely manner for unresolved issues
- Participate in the preparation of the annual and quarterly statutory filings for class 4 insurer
- Participate in the preparation of quarterly board pack materials, including but not limited to developing and maintaining capital models that will be used to measure and assess the organization's capital adequacy
- Participate in processes automation and reengineering. Including writing and testing accounting reports/tools using excel and other accounting/analytical software
- Collaborate with other Chubb entities registered in Bermuda on centralized deliverables and provide ad hoc support to these entities as required
- Other:
- Completing various ad hoc and urgent report requests
- Ensuring adherence to internal controls and maintain process documentation
- Self review of work product and use of project workflow tracker
- Co-ordinating work efforts with various departments in Bermuda and in various offices overseas
- Keeping management informed on the status of various tasks and projects
- Minimum of two year insurance experience
- Minimum of two years public accounting experience
- CPA/CA designation
- Demonstrated experience in performing similar duties to those listed above
- Strong level Microsoft Excel skills, data analysis and critical thinking
- Experience in process improvement and digital finance transformation initiatives. Creating value-driven solutions utilizing business intelligence tools, including Alteryx, Tm1, Power BI, Qlik, and ChatGPT or others.
- Ability to work overtime and meet tight deadlines
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Proactive and self-motivated, continuous improvement attitude and capable of being highly productive in a fast-moving and demanding environment.
Skills Required
- Minimum of two years insurance experience
- Minimum of two years public accounting experience
