Key Responsibilites
Backend & Infrastructure Ownership: Design, build, and maintain backend tools, services, and internal platforms that support operational workflows and enable high‑reliability systems.
Service Reliability & Automation: Implement automation for processes such as incident triage, RCA workflows, remediation pipelines, deployment improvements, and operational runbooks.
Cloud‑First Engineering: Leverage AWS services (Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, etc.) to build resilient, scalable, and cost‑efficient systems.
Cross‑Team Collaboration: Partner with Support, Product, and Engineering teams to understand pain points, streamline workflows, and drive operational improvements.
Engineering Culture: Promote best practices in code quality, architecture, security, and deployment; mentor junior engineers; contribute to high‑quality code reviews and design discussions.
Reliability Practices: Participate in on‑call rotations and post‑incident reviews to improve system reliability and response procedures.
Required Qualifications
Hands‑on expertise with AWS cloud services (Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, API Gateway, etc.).
Strong proficiency in Node.js, Python, or similar modern backend languages.
Experience implementing operational tooling, observability, and reliability patterns.
Familiarity with CI/CD, testing frameworks, and version‑control best practices.
Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills with a focus on production systems and reliability.
Ability to operate independently and drive impact with minimal high‑level direction.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of backend engineering experience using Node.js.
Experience in regulated environments such as insurance, healthcare, or finance.
Exposure to monitoring/observability tools (Datadog, Grafana, CloudWatch, Prometheus, etc.).
Understanding of SLAs, incident response processes, SRE principles, and operational playbooks.
Experience working with a mix of legacy systems and modern cloud‑native services.
Familiarity with scripting languages (JavaScript, Python, Bash) and SQL for operational automation.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
Technical Skills
Backend development: Node.js, Golang, Python or similar technology. Knowledge of serverless architectures, microservices.
AWS services: Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, API Gateway, IAM.
Monitoring & Observability: CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, log aggregation and alerting systems.
CI/CD: GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, automated deployment pipelines.
Infra-as-Code: Terraform, CloudFormation.
Scripting & Automation: Golang, Bash, Python, JavaScript.
Strong understanding of system design, operational reliability, and performance optimization.
