Beaker is Red Hat's internal bare-metal provisioning and hardware testing platform, spanning six global data centers. You'll join a four-person ops team responsible for production reliability and platform modernization — migrating from legacy VMs to OpenShift, hardening for ESS compliance, and building automation and observability.
The role starts hands-on with operations (patching, Lab Controller deployments, ServiceNow tickets, vulnerability remediation) and shifts over time toward containerization, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and monitoring.
What You'll DoPlatform operations: Maintain uptime across multi-site Beaker environments; deploy and manage Lab Controllers (Python 3); execute biweekly patching cycles; triage ServiceNow tickets and provide Slack-based support to QE teams
Modernization: Contribute to OpenShift migration of Beaker components; build and deploy containerized workloads with Podman; improve GitLab CI/CD pipelines; support the Python 2 → 3 migration
Observability: Help roll out Datadog (replacing SignalFX) — agent deployment, alerting, dashboards
Security & compliance: Drive ESS V10 attestation across patching, hardening, authentication, encryption, and egress monitoring controls; triage and remediate vulnerabilities
Automation: Maintain and extend Ansible playbooks for provisioning, patching, and configuration management
