The Tax team manages the global tax and customs affairs of ASOS, including indirect taxes, customs compliance, direct taxes, transfer pricing, tax governance, risk management, and tax transformation. The team partners closely with Finance, Technology, Supply Chain, Logistics and External Advisors to ensure compliance, manage risk and deliver value across the business.
Job DescriptionAs a Senior Indirect Tax Analyst, you will play a key role in ensuring ASOS meets its indirect tax obligations across multiple jurisdictions. The role combines technical VAT expertise, compliance oversight, audit support, process improvement and business partnering.
You will work closely with external advisors, tax authorities and internal stakeholders to manage VAT compliance, identify and mitigate risks, respond to audits, support business change initiatives and drive continuous improvement through automation and technology-enabled solutions.
Key Responsibilities
VAT Compliance & Reporting
- Manage the preparation, review and submission of indirect tax returns across multiple jurisdictions including:
- UK VAT
- EU VAT
- OSS/IOSS
- US Sales Tax
- Intrastat
- Other local indirect tax filings
- Review compliance outputs prepared by external advisors.
- Ensure compliance obligations are met accurately and on time.
- Reviewing large data sets to identify outliers and trends to aid in root cause analysis
- Support Cash flow forecasting, balance sheet reconciliations and indirect tax control framework activities.
- Identify process weaknesses and recommend enhancements.
Tax Risk Management
- Monitor legislative developments and assess impacts on ASOS.
- Support VAT governance and risk management activities.
- Maintain tax risk registers and control documentation.
- Identify potential exposures and recommend practical solutions.
Audits & Tax Authority Enquiries
- Support indirect tax audits across the UK, EU, US and other jurisdictions.
- Coordinate data gathering, reconciliations and responses to tax authority requests.
- Manage relationships with external advisors during audits.
- Assist in preparing technical responses and position papers.
Business Partnering
- Provide practical VAT advice to Commercial, Supply Chain, Finance, Product and Technology teams.
- Support new business initiatives, systems changes and supply chain developments.
- Review contracts and operational changes for indirect tax implications.
- Deliver training and awareness sessions to stakeholders.
- Supporting our culture by championing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategies
Process Improvement & Transformation
- Partner with the Tax Transformation team to improve tax processes and controls.
- Support automation initiatives and implementation of technology solutions.
- Support the development and enhancement of compliance reporting dashboards and reconciliations.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

- Big 4 or professional services
- Tax authority environment
- Strong understanding of:
- UK and EU VAT
- Cross-border e-commerce transactions
- OSS/IOSS schemes
- Intrastat reporting
- Tax authority audit processes
- Experience managing external advisors and compliance providers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large datasets.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within retail, e-commerce or multinational environments.
- Exposure to US Sales Tax compliance.
- Experience using ERP systems such as Dynamics 365.
- Experience with AI tooling - CoPilot, Chat, Glean etc
- Experience with reporting and data tools such as Power BI, SQL or Alteryx.
- Professional qualification (ATT, CTA, ACA or equivalent) or part-qualified.
